Unfortunately, the culture we live in now has a "what have you done for me lately" entitlement. 90% of coaches with FB's record wouldn't see a 6th season. Hopefully PR can turn it around before it's too late...he probably only has 3 weeks to show a marked improvement, however.

After Beamer's initial two bad years, he had one more down year. Then VT went on a tear and proceeded to win no less than 7 games every year until.. oh wait that streak is still going. Yep that's right, VT has won at least 7 games, and gone to a bowl game since 1993. The 7 wins per year streak is in jeopardy for them, but if they can win 2/3 they can go to a bowl, and then Beamer will have gone to a bowl game every year since 1993 until his retirement.

Beamer had VT trending up with one bad year, Paul has ISU trending down with the past 3 years being pretty poor. Obviously this season isn't over yet, and I think there is still hope for Paul. But another 3-4 win season won't do it.

In Beamer's 7th year he went 9-3 and won a bowl game. Not exactly Rhoad's current year.

Let's take a huge outlier on the success side of things and compare him to Rhoads. Brilliant!

Beamer also had the "Tidewater" (Hampton, Newport News, etc.) area to recruit from. Lot of talent in that area.

Rhoads' teams don't play "Beamer Ball." This much we know.

I'd kill for a blocked punt, fumble recovery, or pick for a TD sometime during a season.

If Tribune could catch the ball we would have 2 pick 6s already

This is the exact same tactic that GMAC apologist used during his tenure. Oh......Johnny didn't do that good at first....look at coach K's first few years at Duke. Incredible.
