In his interview CFH said that he was probably wrong to not have played Percy and Daniel more to give us a better chance in the game against bigger front courts.

Last night against Kansas, we didn't get into foul trouble, but we also played some pretty lame defense, and really gave up the easy bunny shots and dunks early on. This kept Melvin and Georges from really getting into foul trouble.

That brings me to my actual question. What is the deal with Gibson and Edozie? They seem to give us positive minutes when they are in, and as long as Gibson doesn't try to be all world, they both play their role pretty well.

Is it just that we were playing an NBA B League team and needed our best talent at all times? Or is it that those two really aren't there yet? Or is it something entirely different?

There's no reason Edozie and Gibson shouldn't be giving the starters 3-4 minutes of rest out there. Go get a rebound, set a pick for a shooter. Anything to help the starter's legs stay fresh at the end.

Replace Ejim with Georges and Percy with Edozie and I'd guess it's pretty accurate.

Has there ever been a thread started on this site that has not had the compulsory post mocking or questioning its creation by the op? Pretty boring.
Anyway, after watching the same KU twice, and seeing a lot of lethargic second half starts, I would have to wonder why we do not use these guys more either. I agree that Georges and Ejim are >>>>>>than their teammates who should be role players.....but our very good players are often tired and passive and this has hurt this team in the 4 loses and many wins. It is self-evident.

I think when we get by the next couple of games and into more manageable competition you will see more of Percy and Daniel.

I think he will after the OSU game. You don't throw him in in the middle of a stretch against 8 ranked teams.

I think by using those players, it really hurts our match-up advantages on the offensive end. If a defense can sag off one of our players, it makes it easier for them to guard us.

Ya been asking the same question in my mind since December; I think edozie can help but who knows. Percy just jogs the court kind of agree on sitting him. I would have also liked to see bluford get more time because our guards cannot shoot 3 consistently and maybe he could have with more time? Who knows though this team was never built to win a championship; they are built to possibly make sweet 16 or elite 8 if they get some hot shooting. We were so cold in the second half from three line but hot as heck in first half; just too bad about naz he just cannot hit them with consistency. Oh how I wish we had babb.

I would like to see him play them both more, and SDW too. I think it gives the others a little break, which can give them more energy in the games, more minutes where they can give 100 percent. I also think it is important when you have stretches like ISU has now.....with 3 games in 6 days, all against ranked opponents. Plus, I think it will help to keep the starters a little more fresh for the remainder of the regular season, the conference tourney, and the NCAA.

If they come in and are screwing up, throwing the ball away, not playing defense, whatever...then bench them....but be sure that they understand why they are getting benched. Like was mentioned though, they have given some positive minutes. I also think it will help for next year and after. It can't hurt to get them more experience.

I think CFH is a very good coach, and I love what he has done for ISU, but if there is one criticism I would have of him, this would be it......how he has (not) used his bench players.

I think in a game like last night where the other team is just so much bigger than us and are killing us inside, I think you need to put in Edozie or Gibson and let them give you some minutes.

If nothing else, tell them to play as good of defense as they can, but don't allow anything easy. If you get beat, just foul them. We can afford Edozie and Gibson both getting a few fouls.

But KU was getting so many easy buckets inside on us with their size. It was ridiculous there for a little while when we had nearly a 4 guard lineup in there after Ejim got his 2 fouls. KU was just destroying us on the inside and on rebounding. I was yelling for Edozie or Gibson big time. Naz Long and Matt Thomas were both out there trying to guard these monsters on KU. It was bad.

It's almost as if Fred only sees things from a guard's perspective. Our offense, our recruiting, our substitutions, are based on outside playing. Even when we get hammered inside, he still doesn't see a problem. Sure we had Royce - but again he was as much point guard as he was PF.

Fred pees out more basketball knowledge every morning than any of you will have in an entire lifetime. If they aren't playing it is probably a combination of 1) them not proving they should play in practice and 2) their negative offensive game out weighs their positive rebounding and defense.

I appreciate this sentiment, even though it is kind of harsh. Obviously, Hoiberg is not beyond making mistakes.

But the part that annoys me when these posts come up is that he is in year 4. He has won 22 and 23 games. He is 15-4 so far this year. He has given no one any reason to doubt his decision making process.

I swear we would be a happier fanbase if we were 13-6 or 12-7 right now. Everyone thought we would lose 2-3 to start the year. If we had done that and then started out 3-4 in the conference, we'd kind of expect it.

I think you just answered your own question. We have dug ourselves into so many holes at the start of the game and start of the second half that every possession becomes critical just to stay in the game and claw back. When you're down 10-15 points in Allen Fieldhouse, you are on the verge of getting blown out. You can't really run out Edozie or PG for a couple minutes and hope for the best.

We basically had a 6 man rotation if you consider a starter only played 8 minutes in the last game. I'm worried what our legs will look like come Big Monday. I love seeing increased minutes for Monte, but I don't think he is built to handle 30+ minutes of Big 12 play on a nightly basis. I also can't believe Niang battled for 38 minutes against that front court.

I was/am on the play Percy & Edozie some, but last night, while watching, there was no point where I said "Fred should put in Percy or Edozie."

Trailing the whole game might have had something to do with it. Its difficult to put one of them in when you know you need offense. Get an early lead on someone and the decision is much easier.

We were not prepared for success (as a fanbase) and it shows.
