@cyclones500 saved me again! Thanks for this great idea:

Using a personal 5-star rating, name some movies you considered close or equal to 4-star, but have had little motivation interest in watching more than once.

An example from me would be American History X - it was a great film, incredibly well-acted, but too gutting emotionally.

Requiem for a Dream. But I have seen it more than once. But it's a tough one. But also one that should be required viewing.

I've had Schindler's List in my Netflix cue forever, but can't bring myself to watch it, even though I should.

I own the DVD. I have watched it many times, simply because of what a masterful piece of filmmaking it is. The subject matter is distasteful, but I would argue that no other film has presented the feel and power of what happened during the Holocaust as this one has.

Plus, I cannot remember another film that looks like this one - Spielberg obviously viewed this as a labor of love, and he and Janus Kaminsky absolutely captured the essence they wanted.

That film (in case you couldn't have guessed) is #1 on my list.

I think Passion of the Christ is a polarizing film.....if you are a Christian, that is. Those who aren't have no reason to see it, and its unrelenting violence would be an absolute turn-off.

But I have discussed this film at length with many other Christians. Some believe it was eye-opening, as they had no idea of the depth of Christ's suffering. Others found it over the top, and not realistic in any way.

The entire idea of crucifixion has to be one of the most barbaric execution methods ever devised, so much so that the Romans - the greatest practitioners of it - refused to use it on each other. Only lesser groups of people, like Jews, were subjected.

For me it's Dear Zachary. It's a great documentary, but once is definitely enough, and it also ruined the rest of day. Even though it's not a movie and currently still in the works for future episodes, I am going to watch the Handmaid's Tale once.

I've watched it more than once just to show others who haven't seen it. Might be the best documentary I've ever seen. But yes, it's an emotional meatgrinder.

My suggestion for this thread would be One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Brilliant movie. But as far as sitting down and watching all the way through, definitely a one-and-done for me.

A recent one for me was Baby Driver. I thought that was a great movie, but can't see myself rewatching it.

I've seen it multiple times and could watch it several more. Not so much for the story (although I enjoyed the story) but because it is visually and musically enjoyable and that doesn't change much on a rewatch.

Funny enough, I watched it after someone made a recommendation about it on CF.

This probably doesn't count but I had never seen the Star Wars movies. One weekend in college my roommates made me sit down and watch all of them with them and I enjoyed them more than I thought I would but don't have any interest in ever seeing them again

Weed will do that to ya.
