My short-list(s)

Disliked as a child; like now:
* Corn-on-the-cob
* Chili
* Stuffing (my family circle called it ‘dressing’)
* Tomatoes
* Potato salad (but do NOT put celery or other "crunchies" in it)
* Ham
* Black olives
* Cauliflower, broccoli

Liked as a child; dislike now (or “disinterested”):
* Beets
* Pumpkin pien (I like it, but I'd rather eat more stuffing)
* Fruit-flavored cereal
* Other stuff that isn't coming to mind at the moment

Yes, forgot about stuffing. Not interested as a child. Love it now as long as it's not too soggy.

And beets are GREAT. Especially pickled beets. A pan of fresh cooked (that day!) beets are delish.

Agree 100% on pumpkin pie. I will eat it if served to me (add lots of whipped cream!) but my least favorite pie.

I hated lasagna growing up, still not my favorite but I like it now.

I also used to hate green bean casserole for years solely because my brother told me it was gross (he still will never eat it). Definitely a favorite now.

Hated as a child, like now:
1. Beer
2. Spicy food
3. Steak
4. Thousand Island dressing. It's good on reubens but terrible on salads.

As far as something I liked as a child but don't like now I'd say the canned pasta thing is a good example.

Lasagna is an example, for me, too, for this category. I started to like it more after I learned how to make it, and became the de-facto lasagna-maker in our family. Not that my version is anything special, but maybe the process involved with preparation made me appreciate it more.

I was not a big fan of fish growing up but I loved some seafood like shrimp, lobster, and crab and I still do. But in the past few years I have been gradually trying and adding some types of fish to my liking. I try to stick to fish with mild flavors as I still don't like the "fishy taste" of certain types but have really grown to like Cod now. Have found some ways to make tuna steaks taste good, they basically eat like a pork chop to me if you cook them right. Still a little hesitant on catfish unless someone has breaded it and fried catfish nuggets that takes some of the stronger "fishy" taste out of it. Still have never acquired a taste for salmon though but scallops, clams, and mussels I do like now.

I ate but didn't care for beets as a child. I like them a lot better now. Still can't stand liver.

Where they love the governor
Brussel sprouts (aka mini cabbage). Disgusting growing up. Tried them again at Dublin Bay about 5 years ago and now if they are on a menu anywhere I will get them. Add some bacon and onion to them and they are awesome!!

I remember growing up, my dad demanded that my mom make Brussels sprouts as a side for dinner. She nuked some frozen sprouts and put some butter on them (I think). Dad required each of us to have 1 that evening. I can recall taking one bite, being horrified at the taste, and forcing myself to swallow it with plenty of milk - kind of like taking a huge pill or something.

My younger brother, however, hadn't reached that stage of life. Poor kid was chewing and crying for what seemed like forever. My father had fallen into some sort of demon possession and not even my mother begging him to let my brother spit it out and be done would sway him.

Finally, my brother made himself vomit. And that was the last time Dad really tried forcing us to eat something.

Where was I? Oh yeah - Brussels sprouts are great if you cook them right. Roasted in the oven with some olive oil and bacon salt. Yum!

There was a period from when I was a toddler to when I was probably about 6 where the only thing I ate was hot dogs and fish sticks (the hot dogs of the sea).

Now I will eat neither. I think I had given up hot dogs before everyone started talking about the gross stuff they put in them, but that really drove it home. Even fancy all beef hot dogs, not touching em.

Another thing I have never tolerated, and never will, is ham. Just the smell of it is bad enough but the spongy texture is just awful to me.
My dad once tried tricking me by replacing bacon in a dish with ham. I knew immediately and said no way. This story get brought up often.

I'll eat a lot more vegetables than I did as a kid, and willingly. I was always a picky eater. Now I'll go home for a family meal and eat veggies and undoubtedly someone in my family will say "You're eating that?!?!"
Yes, I'm not 6 years old anymore and I eat a lot of things I wouldn't as a child.

Thanks for the literal laugh-out-loud at your "hot dogs of the sea" line. I'm going to re-use that, if you don't mind. ;)

Okay, here are mine.

I used to eat a lot of canned pasta. Specifically Spaghetti-O's. Now even the smell of that almost gags me. Truly awful, LOL.
When I was in high school I baby sat a kid that grew up on Spaghetti-O's, hot dogs and popsicles. I tried the Spaghetti-O's once and they were inedible.

No problem. Especially the cheap ass fish sticks my mom bought. Who knows what kind of "fish" was in those suckers.

OK, time for my Sigmapolis post:

As a kid, I was a very picky eater. Plain hamburgers. (Not even cheese!) Mashed potatoes with butter. (No gravy!) Vegetables? Ugh. Potato salad, coleslaw, any nut other than a peanut, etc.

Now I love veggies - still not too keen on Brussels sprouts, but the vixen has a great recipe on the grill with bacon and onion - of all kinds. Cauliflower is my favorite (cooked or raw), but also broccoli, turnips, parsnips, carrots, onions (as a kids onions made me retch), zucchini, squash, beets, bring 'em on. Although I'm still not fond of radishes.

There were never too many types of meat I didn't like. We weren't all that well off when I was little, so my Mom had to make do with lots of cheap cuts of meat. She could take those tenderized minute steaks (which are, in fact, glorified gristle painted red) and somehow make them fork tender. She could also make gravy out of some rainwater and a couple old shoestrings, and it tasted fabulous.

I was fortunate in that my Mom and both grandmothers were fantastic cooks and bakers. So I was spoiled in terms of food.

One meal that I specifically remember as being the all-time worst ever was liver & onions and lima beans. G-a-a-a-a-a-g me. Still won't eat liver.

Of course my Dad was an inveterate hunter and fisherman, so I grew up eating venison, rabbit, pheasant, duck, and all kinds of freshwater fish.

I also vividly remember potluck dinners at church as a kid. In later years I would talk about this topic and the person(s) i was/were with would comment that they didn't know what a potluck dinner was. I always felt sorry for those people. :(

In general, I'd say that I used to really like sugary things, specifically cake/cupcake frosting. Now, I scrape that **** right off. Makes my teeth itch.

Yeah, me to. I'd put sugar on cereal as a kid, never do that now (don't eat sugary cereal anymore either). I have to cut lemonade with water or tea. No interest in candy except some chocolate. I used to love margaritas and if it's real hot and I'm real thirsty I might have one with my Mexican food but would probably just chose beer.

I've totally flipped on virtually every vegetable as an adult but cauliflower. Still hate that stuff.

I've noticed that I'm beginning to really dislike mushrooms. When I catch one one on some combo pizza I don't like it at all whereas I used to tolerate it and didn't actively dislike it.

Food I hated as a kid, but will eat now:
Pickles
Peppercinis
Potato Salad
1000 island dressing
Wider variety of vegetables

Foods I ate as a kid, but will not eat now:
Bologna (in elementary school, my mom would make me a bologna sandwich with cheese, and butter the bread)
Deli meats that don't have a flavor, for example, won't eat ham, but would eat honey ham.
