What comedian do you most enjoy, if you enjoy stand-up?

I saw David Cross several years ago when he was at Stephens - a lot of people didn't get his humor, but I thought he was great. I'd love to see Aziz Ansari or Louis CK.

I absolutely love Louis. I remember listening to him talk about the influence George Carlin had on him and iirc advice Carlin gave him and how after about fifteen years of spinning his wheels he just let go of his career hang ups and started talking about what he was really thinking and things took off. He has no inhibitions on stage and will talk about anything and make it funny. That's what sets him apart imo. He's the most "real" guy since Bruce/Carlin/Pryor.

But 1.A for me is Chapelle. Chapelle making fun of white guys is off the tank. I have been physically incapacitated listening to Chapelle.

Janny nailed it. I can't believe I missed that, we would have been front-row if we'd heard that.

Do you guys listen to their podcast? They announced it on one of those and I almost made the drive to Ames for it.

Also one of the funniest skits I ever heard was Bert Kreischer's.

This was excellent. mkleve prompted me to find his whole routine. Look up comfortably dumb if you want a good laugh for the next hour.

Not always. I'm going to have to start listening more closely, I can't believe I missed that.

Not a lot of love for the ladies on this site. I think I saw Lisa Lampanelli mentioned, but that's all I can remember. She made me laugh at first but it seems like she'd be funnier to see in person working the crowd over.

I will have to second the earlier post on Jonathan Winters. He, Tim Conway, Carrol Burnett, Don Rickles. My dad loved stand-up and exposed me to comedy at an early age.

Lady comedians list include Whitney Cummings and Amy Schumer.

Also forgot to add tosh to comedians seen live.

Probably my most quoted line from any stand-up.

I have a button with "Cake or Death?" on it hanging on my cubicle wall at work. No one else gets it, but that's fine.

I saw someone on a message board years ago who had "I am an evil herbivore" as their signature line. When I messaged them to comment on it, we had a nice bonding moment over his humor.

Is it allowed for us to add Michael Floorwax to this thread, as an homage to the Sklars?
