Each Big 12 member currently makes $37 million with ESPN and Fox. According to multiple sources, each Big 12 member is worth between $14 - $19 million with Texas and OU gone. Say ESPN and Fox call up Bowlsby tomorrow on a 3-way call.

ESPN starts, "Listen Bob, let's put this behind us. You drop pursuing any litigation against us, Texas, and Oklahoma, you let Texas and Oklahoma pay a $15 million exit fee each, we rip up the existing contract, and we'll offer you a new contract."

Fox: "You also rip up our contract."

ESPN:. "Our contract will be for $3.072 billion for 12 years." ($32 million each). "Each member signs a Grant of Rights . We won't offer this again. What you say Bob?"

Should Bowlsby agree?

Honestly there is not a single reason why any Big 12 school should negotiate or do an interview with ESPN ever again.
They tried to kill the Big 12 and relegate all existing schools to the AAC effectively eliminating them from P5 status.
Every interview from any of the existing Big 12 coaches and players should start an ESPN sideline interview by asking why do you even want to interview us.
If a current school gets back into bed with ESPN then you will need to sleep with one eye open the rest of your life because they will simply try to kill your program again every 5 years.

The response from Bob should be…go **** yourself and in 2025 Amazon, Apple and Google will reduce ESPN to CBS Sports Network.
Would love to see that but the only way that happens is if the powers that be don't have ESPN secure all of the CFP rights. If a new entrant like Amazon, Apple or Google can get a piece of the CFP, then that will enhance their bids for rights to the P12 and/or B12.

The conferences understand that the move by the SEC and the subsequent Big 12 destruction was done with the assistance and blessing of ESPN. They are no longer a friend of any other conference. If they tell them that we aren’t locking into anything beyond 2025 then ESPN will go into full panic mode because they are ******. Streaming will outbid ESPN 4-fold for that Playoff in 2025. Everybody just needs to keep turning the screws on ESPN.

Forget the playoffs, if they include SEC. SEC is a minor league NFL farm system and should be excluded by all other conferences in postseason. That will show things as they really are. No reason to pretend we are all equals. No one has a chance against the SEC in CFP anyway- besides Clemson, and their ship has probably sailed.

According to Bob, OU and UT were worth 14 MM per team. That places the remaining schools value under the current contract at $23MM. Figuring most are seeing 25-50% bumps, that would mean our contract should be 29-35MM per year as is. So why would we let them out for such a low amount?

Its comments like this and thinking this way that keeps Coach Campbell’s internal flame lit bright. Before Dabo, Clemson was a very average program

Can someone outline the logistics of having our own network? Can we partner with Fox? Amazon? YouTube? If we were to add them for football: BYU TV?

So in a few words, the whole idea about a GoR agreement is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Because of this I don't think a Cyclone Network would be anywhere close to as successful as a conference wide agreement.

By "our own" I meant as a conference. If no other power conference wants the leftovers, I'd like to see the Hateful 8 stick together because dropping to the AAC or Mountain West is ridiculous. What's our best deal? Obviously not with ESPN. How can we be on the forefront of streaming? Who's our best option? What are the possibilities?

I'd like to add BYU as a football only member. They have a strong tradition and rabid fanbase. They're obviously competitive and there'd be an interest in watching those games.

What about Memphis? FedEx has expressed interest in being a sponsor. Would that help at all?

What about UNLV? Fancy new stadium. The Las Vegas Bowl is about to blow up. Would love to have that tie-in.

Just spit balling here.

I know it's early, but if ESPN wants to cut off a majority of the fingers on the hands that helped feed and raise them to what they have become, screw them and let's get involved in every way possible to put the screws back to them...

Organize and support TOTAL boycotts of EVERY advertiser and their affiliates and partners. Refuse to watch any sporting program on any channel with even a hint of partnership to the greedy, thankless bastards. That goes for football, basketball, volleyball, cornhole, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, skateboarding, absolutely everything!!!!!

It might hurt a little for a while, but once sponsors and advertisers and other sports related affiliations see what this could do to their bottom line, it could put a world of hurt on them and they'll run likes rats off a sinking ship.

We could be as instrumental in demolishing them as we were in helping them become the royalty they are in broadcasting circles... THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!!!!!!!

I really like the "Hateful Eight"!

It's got a nice ring to it, and is a very succinct way of getting the message across.

We can do just what they did. Start out kinda small, grow exponentially as our product got more respect and notoriety, then blindside 'em and bury the bastards!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually, we could put one of the originals as the lead institution in each of the new conferences we form and drum the SEC back to "regular guy" status. What kind of national championship comes from just one conference, (and probably ND), anyway?

Almost everything starts out small, it's just that the inspired and innovative ones just aren't satisfied to stay that way...

Here's the issue. We already did that. We had a nice conference when we were the Big 8. And from there we got the Texas schools to form what was back then, the top conference in the nation.

We're pretty far beyond being able to remake what we had. I think the conference merges to another or completely disbands. Starting from scratch just won't work this time.

Good point. It is $28 million in tv revenue which $14 million was Texas/Oklahoma. I guess the $9 million more we get ($37 million total) is from bowl bids, basketball, championship game. All of the latest will go down. But with ESPN's hypothetical deal, it would be a bump from $14 million to $32 million. Say they offer $50 million instead? The point is whether there would be a number we would accept right now.
