There is nothing wrong with being confident and saying that your team can compete at a high level.

You could probably find something wrong with guaranteeing a conference championship at Iowa State when it has never happened and you are coming off of 5 wins in two years.

These two things are not mutually exclusive and I would never belittle a player for having confidence in his team, but you can't go that far and go on the record. His statement is genuinely laughable no matter how positive it is that he is confident and optimistic.

Yeah - but kids say the darndest things! NOBODY will use anything said by a recruit to ISU as bulletin board material. Every team, every recruit, every coach every year starts off with goals at the highest level. Those who speak those goals and work towards them are to be commended. Those who mouth the words but fail on the commitment are bad teammates.

What about those who guarantee things outside of their own control?

He should legit think that way. I applaud it, and thats how you start winning. I'm on Tuckers side, and think we shall be victorious more times then not next season.

And everyone that is super negative probably have many past posts about how Hoiberg would fail at being a head coach.

I'm sure the staff and Harris have pretty high expectations. They know the talent level in Ames is the highest it's ever been, they were just young, inexperienced, and learning new systems.

Unfortunately this will be the 7th consecutive year where we are young and inexperienced...... 2nd year in the system for the offense though!

How bout we give the rest of the conference nut cups instead? We need more players with his attitude. Besides talent, this team needs a psychological overhaul. A lot of defeatism in that locker room.

I'll drink his koolaid. Cheers.

Every Cubs fan in the world has this attitude.. doesn't seem to work for them.

But the difference between now and then is there will be a lot of experience next year, and most players won't be learning a new system.

Oh that's my bad I honestly thought you were being sarcastic.

I do think the team has a lot of talent, hopefully next year the whole team can get things to go right for a change. There are some big holes and plans to fill them but as we saw this year sometimes plans fall through.

I hope he's right, don't have much issue with him saying it because few outside of the state even noticed I'm sure.

Well, maybe if we can get three or four more like him, no one will have to feel sorry. I hope that, along with him and Leath, we can get a couple more stalwarts on D.

I don't remember which poster, but someone has a signature on CF that reads something like: "Men just want to have fun; women want to take fun out into the woods and shoot it".

We have a kid here, 19 or 20 years old, who is genuinely excited about being a part of the Cyclone team, and okay - maybe he's a little hyped up. He will get nailed by the media and opposing fans soon enough. Does he have to hear it from the people he's looking forward to entertaining with his gameplay?

Some of you are a bunch of crabby old women.

The only crabby ones are the ones who don't understand players improve between their freshman and senior years. And commonly show significant improvement.

I found the signature - I was close to getting it right. :)

@TedFlintKansas :err:

Men want to have fun, women want to take fun out to the middle of the woods and shoot it in the head.

Fly-by question here: Why are people still fighting about this sport when the basketball season is at full tilt?

We see the first test run of the fully operational system tomorrow. Isn't that a bigger deal than this struggling sport that doesn't go live for 8 more months?

This is great. He's already my favorite football player for next year. Gotta love a guy who doesn't care about past records, just looks ahead with confidence and optimism.

Last August was a couple of years ago? And he didn't drop it then.

Need a link on that one because I haven't heard him mention the word championship in the last couple years and I do watch all the interviews that get posted up on cyclones.tv

There are a couple ways this could go...

Road (Rhoad?) number one: We take advantage of our easy beginning to the 2015 season and start 5-0. ISU finds itself ranked in the top 25. Some people remember Tucker's tweet and it resurfaces. TCU's players get ticked off and the Frogs beat us 41-3. Baylor follows suit and beats the Clones 63-21, effectively ending all hopes of a Big 12 championship.

Rhoad number two: We start out 1-4, ending all hopes of a Big 12 championship.

I think anyone who doesn't have that attitude and feeling shouldn't waste their time playing. The first step to winning is absolutely believing you will and believed in your coach system. I want a team full of these guys.
