6 might end up being a stretch but I certainly like the personnel better this year compared to the last two years. Whether we can improve our execution to the point it impacts our W/L remains to be seen.

I don't mean to be mean about this, but I don't think there can be a more ignorant post ever posted on this site (if you're serious, please, please, please tell me you're not serious.)

I just can't believe anyone could possibly think that.

If you don't care why are you posting in this thread or any thread in the football forum?

It is possible for the staff to come back with two or three wins. JP is cheap and conservative and he had a 10 year contract (huge mistake) with the Man. Everyone assumes a crummy season and we will get a new coach. Has anybody flat out and said that that counts like Leath?

Once we beat Toledo this-weekend people will start predicting 5-6 wins again.

Nancy's. We got beat by a solid Iowa team (remember it was tied with 4 min left) and people think we're the worst team in FBS not named Kansas.

I would have to see the first hour of the game that was preempted by a stupid extra innings MLB game at my house before I could make a more informed opinion. But based on what I did see Saturday, 6 wins is going to be an awfully tough row to hoe. I certainly would be delighted to be wrong.

I'm certainly not discounting the possibility of a bowl game yet, but it is very difficult for us without sweeping the non conference. I do see many winnable games left on the schedule if we continue to improve, but past precedent doesn't support that happening.

IF we can develop a running game, this team could still be pretty good, but the problems we have on the OLine seem to me to be more personnel driven than scheme driven to me. However, I'm far from an expert, so I'm still hoping to be wrong, but preparing myself to be right.

Is this one of those fill in the blank threads? I'm guessing, the way things are around here lately, you're going to get a lot more negative ones than positive.

I think it's legitimately possible. I've been watching a lot of college football so far this season and I must say that I think it's a down year for the big 12. Let's look at the some of the teams so far...
Kansas is a win. They might be the worst P5 team in history, no hyperbole.
Texas was out gained by Rice by over 200 yards. They only won due to offensive miscues by Rice to the tune of 5 turnovers. They are horrible on offense.
Toledo is a solid team but by no means unbeatable. Arkansas threw all over them because they couldn't run...if ISU can get it going in the passing game they can pull it out.
KState is using a qb that's never played a snap of qb until this season. Their offense, passing and running, looked awful against UTSA this last weekend.
Texas Tech still has no defense to go with their offense...it'll take a great effort to out score them but it's by no means impossible.
That's 6 wins. With some luck and execution (everyone's favorite word) it really can happen. Have a little faith.

Remember how everyone locked us in for a win against KU last year.....yeah, looked how well that panned out. I will never overlook another team as an ISU fan ever again.

I just don't get the arrogance from some fans. We are KU for KU.

To be fair, you really did miss some good football played by ISU. We came out and looked like a totally different team than we're use to. Moved the ball really well on offense and made some good plays to kill drives on D.

What scared me the most about this game was the fact that, despite all the talk about this team's makeup being different, and the culture has changed, when Iowa got their break on the fumble recovery for a TD, we went right back to our old ways.. We got punched in the mouth, and totally wanted to crawl into a hole and hide instead of fighting back. After that point, the offense seemed like they were playing not to make the losing mistake, and the defense went back to hanging on for dear life. Looked way too much like last year for me.

I just don't think we play aggressively enough to get that many wins. Everything we do on offense, defense, game management, special teams depends on our opponent screwing up in order to obtain success. Do we really think a Bill Snyder led team is going to hand us the game? I don't think so.

I actually wish our offense would line in the "I" and play power football, or something similar to that. Still think the best offense is power straight ahead and chuck it deep.

This coming from a Leach disciple?

I personally like the spread. I think Rhoads envisioned our spread more along the lines of the way West Virginia ran it when they had Pat White at QB, Steve Slaton at RB and Noel Devine at WR/RB as a run based spread. CPR had to defend that team in the "Back Yard Brawl" when it was at it's peak so he saw first hand how hard it was to defend. Which is why Herman was brought in since he at a Run based spread at Rice.

I do not see the running backs required to run behind the oline we now have.DeMarco Murray would have a tough time. Do not expect a running game this year except against KU. KU will be an anomoly. They stink.
