godfrey and railey were gmac recruits, fwiw.

This keeps getting mentioned regarding Godfrey.

It is true that Godfrey was recruited and verbally committed during the Mac regime. However, for a variety of reasons, that commitment was in flux during the changeover to Hoiberg. When Hoiberg took over, ISU re-evaluated whether they wanted to offer Godfrey - and decided they did.

So I understand that the Hoiberg regime had its hands tied with regard to the small pool of available kids when they took over in April. But Godfrey was NOT already signed, sealed, and delivered. They could have not offered him - but they decided to, in fact, offer Godfrey.

So, in that respect, Godfrey is a Hoiberg recruit.

We knowingly bring in a guy caught with pot five times and dismiss a guy caught with pot 3 times. Again, why should we expect things to change? Sorry, I'm not just going to stick my head in the sand.

Who got caught with it 5 times? Besides that, assuming that's true, none of it happened here. That's the whole point you seem to miss. ISU has a written policy. Fred has followed that policy to a T. I do not expect him to do more than that. If it were up to me, Godfrey may not have been booted but Mann may have been fired but once again, I didn't write the policy that is similar across all schools. If we win, I don't really care if we have a guy get caught with pot. I really don't. Call me what you want but I don't see marijuana as a big deal. Never smoked it in my life but I also haven't seen problems caused by it to the level that I have seen alcohol.

Just a quick Google search so you know what I was talking about.

Fred had to follow policy, otherwise it would have been okay?

Still don't know what you're talking about. Where's the "5 times?" The policy is what it is and I expect every coach to follow it but I don't expect them to go beyond it.

You're probably right, I'm sure Izzo just can't stand NBA talent on his team. We are lucky Izzo is such an idiot.

Does anyone think this WOULDN'T have happened under Gmac? Godfrey made his choices, not Fred or Greg. This exact same thing probably would have played out under Gmac, except we wouldn't have Royce, Allen, Babb or Booker to help compensate for the loss.

Instead we would likely have at least one other recruit similar to McKnight that would be pretty much useless as a back up to Godfrey.

Good point, but we still have the same lead recruiter in TJ. Does anybody know if TJ is recruiting a different area / different type of player under Freddy?

Good point. We should have just brought in Harrison Barnes and Brandon Knight. Cant believe we passed on them!
Oh wait.......
There is the land of theoretical and then there is reality. Come on back to reality pal.
The bottom line is winning. Just ask Charlie Sheen.
Sometimes you have to take a chance on a guy that might help you win. When you are ISU, you have to take bigger chances. If you think we can just bring in
high-character 4 and 5 star guys like bringing in the mail, well, wake up.
So many people, even on the transfer debate, act like we can just waltz out and get whoever we want.

What does that have to do with you erroneously claiming "5 times"? MSU has as similar policy. It goes three strikes and your out. If you would have said "three times" you might be correct. Although, you still haven't shown anything to back even "3 times.

And is Korie Lucious NBA talent? I guess I don't buy into that. He was a bench player for MSU. A good one that contributed a ton but I don't know that makes him a NBA caliber player.

You seem to make a lot of generalizations then get pissy when people ask where the info comes from. IT might be better to stick to the facts.

Please quote the line in which I stated something inaccurate instead of making it personal. I know it's a lot to request bringing something with reality/substance to the conversation.

This has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with the constant revolving door our MBB has become. For one reason or another, we just can't stop hemrroging players. Period. Fact. Not disputable.

And it's turned our program (among other reasons) into a joke.

There's no morality in that - just simple facts. A cold reality that should prove Fred has no simple fix in front of him and turning this thing around is going to take time. I hope Fred has it in him.
1. I never said that you turned it into something about morality. However, you always want to take this high and mighty route and talk about how everything is an embarrassment (which in this case isn't much of one, if at all).
2. I never made this personal. I just said that you should go do something that you love to do.
3. Hyperbole is the best thing ever!

Oh really? Since you brought it up, who are all these NBA players he has thrown into the NBA? There hasn't been a large amount of success in that aspect.
