I don't think it matters what you wear, as long as you show up and cheer for the cyclones. I might not have torn them to shreds for some undeserving janitor to have to clean up, but w/e. :p

I got on TV because of the poncho I was wearing! (That and perhaps the insanely intense "Let's Go State" I was apparently doing at the time...)

My vague suggestion to Cyclone Alley Central regarding props- find something that's fairly durable and all-purpose that we can continue to bring to games in the future. The flashing sunglasses were neat, but didn't do anything to help us fire the crowd or players up (not to mention you only had enough for half the people there). I know we probably can't use them anymore, but the little yellow megaphones from last year, or the giant foam cowboy hats- both of those were great props. The foam bar thing from the volleyball game vs. NU, as well as the towels from the Cyclone Classic and the UNI roadtrip- those were not bad, but require more physical effort to be effective than most people are willing to put forth for an entire game.

Maybe I shouldn't be talking because I don't have a specific suggestion, but I really hope you can come up with something awesome for KU. Is there any way we can attempt to get around the new "artificial noisemaker" rule? I know balloons are out, but maybe think of something else that toes that line? If it gets banned a week later by the Big 12 HQ, fine- we'll have already accomplished our purpose with it.

I agree with the ideas of making a sign that just says "UUUUUUU!!" Also, can we come up with a good mockery of Rock Chalk? My two:

Squawk, Squawk, Jayhawk! [Screw] yoooooou!
All Talk, Jaysquawk! [Screw] yoooooou!

If we're winning or have won, you could replace "Screw you" with "Goodbye".

How about chicken wings or drumsticks for the KU game. Save a Cyclone, eat a Jayhawk. :) Ok that's a reach probably.

I'd venture to guess asking an entire group to remember to bring a particular item back to each game would be difficult. That's just my guess though.

I'd love to see some of the good-natured, clean chants return. Those seem to be the most fun - not just for the students but for the entire arena.

I think you misunderstood me. I meant props that we could bring back to a game; that don't need a particular context to make sense. For example, I don't think you're going to find many people bringing their gold ponchos to some random nonconference game next winter. The cardinal/gold towels that just have the CA logo on them, however, are useful props free of any sort of inside context. You could bring one of those to any Cyclone basketball game and it would make perfect sense. That's what I meant. Give us something that people would want to bring back in the future.

Here's my input: The poncho's were just ONE idea to do something different and boost our spirit and improve atmosphere. Not all will like it. Some will think it's dumb, some won't. Don't get all shook up because CA is trying something different. Let them be students afterall.

Re: The guy on the west end of the student section who gets the students to move in unison as opponents shoot FT's. Great job! This has been way overdue and missing from Hilton since ...forever!

And the move to fill in the areas behind the baskets with student seating -- again LONG OVERDUE! Much, much better!

If all this has been hashed out before, sorry, that was my first game attended this year. Keep up the good work Athletic Mkt. Dept.

As childish as it is, I would enjoy hearing a mockery of the Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU chant. Especially since I've yet to find a KU fan that knows what the hell it means or why they say it.

Whats the worst that could happen, they do it again the next time they beat you in Phog Allen?

What I liked, and wish would be done more often was when we (Cyclone Alley) Started the CYCLONE - POWER chant, yelling back and forth. Maybe to get everyone into it have the students do cyclone and everyone else do power. The cheerleaders have the signs so it wouldn't be that hard to get it going, but that seems to be the problem, getting it started!:yes4lo:

I just heard the Rock Chalk chant today through the wonders of YouTube... wow. It's just asking to get parodied!

I assume the Rock Chalk refers to football games, because we all know what a powerhouse KU is in that sport. ;)

We are trying to save the Cyclone Power chant for the end of the game when we are ahead. That's why you don't hear it other times.

As a side note, it would be cool to have a back and forth chant going during warm-ups to get the crowd pumped for the game and to intimidate the opposition. Maybe Cyclone Power could be used there as well. Something to think about.

I like anything that gets people excited about cheering for the clones. I saw too many old people sitting on their hands....

Someone needs to get with the band and tap into their chants. They've got great ones! Listen to them at the women's game. They're hillarious!!
