Herrera loses to Lance Runyon 2-0.

Had bad issues on bottom.

Yeesh. See my earlier warning about results against guys who aren’t quality D1 starters.

He has a bright future, I think. But the earlier call about being Kueter was premature. (Yonger will handle him if he goes.)

Meza wins 125 final in a close one over Grand View. Nothing flashy just solid wrestling.

Jacob Frost made the 3rd place match but didn’t wrestle. Not sure what’s up there.

Kane Naak took 3rd.

Rojas was alive on the backside but FF out.

Tate Naak and Riggins will wrestle for 1st.

Helgeson takes on Angelo Ferrari for 1st.

Bartelt will get another crack at Kaleb Runyon in the 3rd place match.

All these No Contest matches in the consi semis and 3rd / 5th matches make this a terrible tournament. Those are supposed to be the best matches. Assuming some hit match limits for the day

I wonder if Frost hit the match limit , he was in a big bracket and no byes - same maybe for Osmany

They are hitting daily match limits. Only way to avoid this is limit entries.

Or, of course, stay off the back side.

I tried to watch as much as I could today. My quick thoughts

125 - Meza looked solid. Always looks comfortable and found ways to win.

141 - Not really sure what to think here. J Frost dominated the guys he could but had nothing for Happel in an 18-5 loss. Thinking it’s likely Redding in the near term.

149 - Fousek had a couple of fun matches. He was scrapping.

157 - Kane Naak had a decent day, losing by major to Ryder Downey but pretty well had his way otherwise. Things don’t look good for next weekend for Paniro. Gutted out a win in SV1, but had to stop several times for a hurt ankle that was taped up. Defaulted out.

165 - MJ looked good. He really took it to Thomsen who was a NQ for UNI.

174 - both Tate and Riggins won some matches convincingly and A couple close ones. Riggins beat Tate in SV1 for the title.

184/197 - unfortunately never got to watch any of these matches, but Bartelt finished 3rd and only lost a close one to Kaleb Runyon of UNI. Iowa has a stud in Ferrari. Tech’d Helgeson in the final.

285 - tough loss for Herrera to Runyon. Couldn’t generate any offense and got ridden out the entire 2nd.

Gaitan with a pin in the 1st. So, Euton is beating this Gaitan?? He looks great! Not just the pin but fast and aggresive going for the TD. He just muscled the guy over for the fall too.
I assumed that dresser was trying to figure out if riggins or euton would be more successful. Then mj would step in to replace the the lesser wrestler.

Some big questions going into the Iowa dual.

1. What is the pecking order of Terukina/Meza/Diversant?
2. Is Johnson injury serious?
3. Gaitan to 174? I hope this is not much of a question at this point.
4. 141 looks bleak. Despite the loss today have to think we see Frost based on past head to head results but who wins that wrestleoff that presumably happens this week?

I think you can only wrestle 6 matches

I was not able to watch the whole open yesterday, but is the consensus that Meza will be the starter at 125? Redshirt or not he seems like he does find ways to win.

He’s used 2 dates and I’d bet he goes next weekend for his 3rd. Then I’d bet they save the other 2 for late in the season to make a decision. Just my guess
