That is disappointing! Was really hoping Ham would stick around.

The more I think about it this is probably good. Nothing against Ham, but he would have 2 years of eligibility left and who knows how he would have fit into the style of play Coach Hoiberg (whoa, that was weird) wants to play. Probably best to leave the scholly open for a high school kid this year or next year that Coach Hoiberg wants and knows will fit his system.

Would he even start though? I would think Dendy would start over him anyways. Were going to be running the floor and Dendy has much more speed and dunking range

Yeah, and who is going to play defense again? Ham deserves credit, last year he had to guard his guy and Brackins' guy.

Dendy is not a 30+ minute a game guy from what I have seen. He and Ham provide great change of pace. Dendy is NOT a good defensive player from what I have seen, at least not against really big guys in the post, and he certainly isn't a banger. He is prone to foul, and do you want him in the game at the end when you know everyone will foul him? I love Dendy's work on the offensive glass, and he can be exciting running the floor, but he wasn't ready for starting duty this past year. Ham had really picked up his weak side help.

Who says it was Ham making the decision? I don't know anything at all, but the fact that he told Dendy he was coming back and then both Colvin and Ham took the time to meet with Hoiberg shows they had some interest. Maybe Hoiberg didn't see it in our best interest to keep either of them. Probably nothing to that, but it is at least a possibility

I am guessing you are more right than you know, who has more loyalty to ISU than Fred?
Nobody I can think of. He may have seen both Colvin and Hamilton as bailing on ISU, and not a good gamble. He may not want to spend most of his time this year trying to motivate guys that had already wanted out of ames.

Now, this is a familar feeling. Good basketball news, followed by disappointing basketball news. Lovely.

I wish we could have gotten Ham to stay. Not a great way to start the Hoiberg recruiting era. :)

I'll still keep him as our coach though!

Not sure that Ham leaving anyway is disappointing, since we weren't counting on him being here.

I'm not upset with the look of next year's team. I think, as Randy Peterson said, this could be a fun team to watch. A fun team around .500 in the first year buys a lot of capital.

And as Deace said this morning, maybe it's not worth it to spend capital on a guy that left once.

"Thanks to all the cyclones out there for treating me well and i am looking forward to see FH bring the magic back. Goodluck cyclones! "

He didn't say goodbye cyclones. So, I want confirmation.
