And when they did start celebrating it again they called it the "Carnival of the Confederacy." They didn't call it Independence Day again until 1976.

Why do people post videos of fireworks on their social media?
I guess I'm an old stooge. I like watching fireworks done professionally, but never understood the fandom for the other.
They are a medical and fire hazzard, a waste of money, messy, and dogs and vets become unnerved. There! Scrooge rant over!![]()

We all make mistakes. I make one once a year, or so.I apologize to my friends here.
I mistakingly posted political comments here on the 4th. Mistakenly because I saw the thread headline, the various art and videos, and I had it in my head that I was in the political forum.
Knowingly I would never violate the forum category rules, I believe in them fully.
So, again, I tell anyone I inadvertantly annoyed that I am sorry. Happy to be off my (deserved) five-day ban so that I can post a mea culpa.
