I think we're taking things too serious when we're criticizing Jackie Sandler, who was in the movie for like 30 seconds.
If it’s not on par with citizen cane, it’s pre crap. The amount of fun haters in here is absolutely crazy.
Imagine the original Happy Gilmore being portrayed by a 60 year old.
It would’ve been impossible to replicate the same dumb humor. In fact, they even made a play on it with his dream no longer being hot chicks and booze but now having medium size underwear.
It was designed just to be a good time and nostalgic and people are reacting like it had the final season of Game of Thrones expectations lol
Wouldn't Zalatoris be like 45 years old now if he was 15 years old 30 years ago?The whole family watched it and laughed. I doubt I'll remember this movie exists in a couple years, but it was fun. It's a good example of why I think comedies should always be 90 mins.
Zalatoris being the caddie kid from the first movie was the best joke of the movie.
That's my boy was an abomination! And absolute abomination! To each their own, but I would put the movies listed above Happy Gilmore 2.
Grown Ups
That's My Boy
Blended
Just Go With It
His kids performances weren't the issue (although his wife is just a terrible actress). The issue is he had to write characters for them, so all the sudden we had a daughter that needed a dance school and an AA plot that went absolutely nowhere and added nothing to the story.
A story of Shooter still being the top dog and Happy leaving his job as a hockey coach to face Shooter one last time would of been a far better and more compelling story. And killing off Virginia...just why? Well, because he had to shoe horn his daughters story lines in there somehow. The guy cares more about getting his friends and family in a movie than the actual movie itself. Its just terrible.
It wasn't funny. Sorry. It's like Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin making a sequel to one of their movies from the 1960s using the same type of humor/comedy/bits/etc. from back then but trying to pull it off to a 1990s audience and expecting the same laughs. The amount of fun haters in here is absolutely crazy.

The original Happy Gilmore was brilliant. This one was just kind of lazy and unfunny because 30 years later the same old jokes don't hit the same.
In addition to TWS, I thought Big Daddy was a good, touching movie that also still had the 90s Sandler slapstick comedy elements.I thought Zohan was actually not that different than Waterboy but a lot of them were bad like Chuck and Larry or that remote control thing. I’m not saying Zohan is The Godfather or When Harry Met Sally but it’s in the ballpark of his stupid yet beloved movies yet nobody tends to agree w me on that.
Him swimming in Zohan is one of the biggest laughs I’ve gotten from any movie. Pretty much everything with Tuturro in that movie is hilarious too.
The Wedding Singer to me is the only movie of his that’s both that sstupid/funny yet also a “good” movie in terms of what a film critic looks for.
I don't have a problem with his kids being in his movies. His younger daughter especially seems pretty talented. He's done this for years with his closest buddies, why not his family now that they're of age? His real life wife was also the dance instructor if I'm not mistaken.Read over the wkd that Sandler had written a script before Carl Weathers died and when Carl died he had to rewrite the whole movie. I guess Chubs was a major character in the original script. Def a bummer, because I'd guess that was a MUCH better script than what we got.
I'm just bummed because this had so much potential yet Sandler went in about the worst direction with it. Also, shoe horning all his kids in it made it terrible.
Chubbs son was fine. Boban Marjanovic as new Mr Larson was a bit more of a miss for me.I watched it last night and liked it. Not the best comedy of all time, but it was good.
I feel like people who don't like it either didn't like the first one, or have completely forgot what type of humor was in the first one, because they're basically the same. Some really funny stuff, and some really corny not that funny stuff.
Chubb's son was the lowlight for me. Added nothing. I actually thought his daughters were pretty good.
I think it would have been funnier to have someone like Peter Dinklage play that role. The complete flip of the character's stature would have landed better.Chubbs son was fine. Boban Marjanovic as new Mr Larson was a bit more of a miss for me.
I like Boban so that part was a highlight for me. But going the opposite direction also would have been funny.Chubbs son was fine. Boban Marjanovic as new Mr Larson was a bit more of a miss for me.

There was a lot of chit-chat in our house during that time and I wasn't clear who she was supposed to be and thought she was a Gilmore ex and the daughter's mom for a minute.Correct. I mean when you see the scene of instructor and daughter together even if you didn't know, the family resemblance is obvious.
