Not exactly sure.
Unless Bob Stoops would go back there and coach, there's not a whole lot of coaches from Hayden Fry's staff around that I think would take the job.

So they might be entering uncharted territory after he retires for the first time since the 70s.

With that stupid tattoo, probably. Doesn’t matter anyhow because 1) baby Ferentz will be the next HC 2) Bert will probably be gone from Illinois by then anyhow.
I'm not convinced that they'll hire baby Ferentz, but if they do, I think they'll fire him when they have a mediocre/bad season.

Kirk seems to be able to weather the storm when they have a mediocre/bad season occasionally.

I'm not so sure on Little Ferentz being the apparent heir to the throne. I haven't met a single Iowa fan who believes in him. Everyone I have ever talked to has agreed that he wouldn't have a job there if his dad wasn't the one who decides his fate. I find it hard to believe, as inept as Iowa can be, that they would name LF HC

ISU/Baylor fans should be prepared for Campbell/Amanda to make a moves, but a coach isn’t smart enough to do what they’ve done and simultaneously stupid enough to pick…Nebraska.

Always a chance one of them ends up like Snyder or KF staying put for decades but those are more rare than the journeyman career path. Yesterday watching NW, have to throw Fitzgerald in there too now. He’s 5th longest tenured coach and was the “hot” name at times with lots of options, they might have plateaued and had a bad year last year (as bad ad Nebraska even) but he’ll have them above .500 most years which is something at NW.

In year 7 Campbell is probably in the top half himself of longest tenured coaches. Probably really hard for Huskers to think that way after they had like 6 coaches in a row not last that long.
2 of those coaches should have never been fired Solich and Pellini

I've heard similar things from the Iowa fans I know. It seems like they don't really like him.

That's sort of why I believe if he got hired, he would have a short leash.

What I find funny is that there are now people who believe that any B10 or SEC school can now hire a coach away from any other school. Just like that. Everyone else is now minor league almost like we're FCS. And they're perfectly fine with 75% of the teams in the country being relegated to the minors. As if when they go to their own little league, someone doesn't have to lose. It's f'ing ridiculous what "realignment" has brought us to. As someone who loves all of CFB, the whole thing makes me sad. Someone else is making a ton of money and the lemmings are buying in like they are actually profiting.
That's kind of America in a nutshell anymore.

Never know but I would think Stoops would go to a bigger brand where he can have a legit shot at a national title.

He might do well at Iowa but not well enough to fit his ego.

Also age...he's 61 so there's no longevity.

I agree to a certain extent. Ferentz is 67, so not that much older than Stoops.

Not sure when he plans on retiring. I think there are only a handful of coaches that are older than him at this point? (Nick Saban, Mack Brown, ??)

Do you think he would quit Illinois to go to Iowa though?

I'm assuming Bert is Bret Bielema. They might as well hire Mark Mangino or Charlie Weis. Bert is getting a little 'round'. Guess he hasn't wanted to lose his 'lineman' weight just yet.
I shouldn't make fun. I guess I'm just not a 'HUGE' Bret B fan. Haha.

Bielema would guzzle the gravy to come to Iowa after KF. No way BF is getting the job. KF is trying to ride out the racism to get BF the job, but that is never happening. Fat **** Bielema just screams white trash, trailer park Hawkeye. He will be widely considered.

The problem I see with Bielema is that it seems like a lateral move.

If he's doing well at Illinois, why leave? They can probably compete similarly salary-wise, and it's not that easy to get a program going.

If he's doing poorly at Illinois or gets fired, why would Iowa pursue him?

The ToE fans I know absolutely hate Bielema.
