  • When we were on acid, we would go into the woods... cause when you're in the woods tripping, there's less likely a chance you'll run into an authority figure. But we ran into a bear. That was even more of a buzzkill. My friend Dwayne was standing there raising his right hand, swearing to help prevent forest fires. We got away from the bear, he put his arm around my shoulder, he said "Mitchell... Smokey is way more intense in person!"

I was front row for Mitch at the Laugh Stop in Austin in 2003. It was 90 minutes of pure comedic genius.

People need to try and understand some of the reasons people abuse drugs. I doubt it was done on a whim. There's a lot more going on than just deciding "HEY! I think I should try drugs! It'll be awesome!"

Kind of how my first (and only) experience happened.

I find him terribly boring and I think I might be the only person ever.

I like Wright as well. Another favorite deadpan comedian of mine is Demitri Martin (if you could call him that).

I'm not exactly in the same boat, but I never found him to be as great as many say. Just different opinions, I suppose. Though it's weird because that's my same exact type of humor I have.

I forget if it was Des Moines or Cedar Rapids that a bunch of us from Helser went to see him. It was fantastic.

HOWEVER, the most obnoxious part was everyone poorly quoting his jokes for the next year. Almost as annoying as those a few years after when everyone and their aunt and uncle was poorly retelling Dane Cook jokes (that were only borderline funny to begin with)

I realize its real popular to pretend that Dane Cook isn't funny but almost any comedian secure with their success will admit that a lot of his stuff is very funny. He is pretty well respected in stand up community. The only thing (which isn't his fault) is they felt he didn't have to work as long to become successful as they did. Most are jealous that he went straight from clubs to arenas.

Almost as bad as Dane Cook poorly re telling jokes he stole from other funnier comedians.

Well respected? He's been known to steal jokes from other comedians, one in particular is Louie CK, who actually IS well respected in the stand up community.
