I don't have a problem with it. Sure, we don't know his style, but he knows uptempo college basketball, he knows Floyd's style, he knows what it's like to play well for a long time in the NBA. He knows winning. He knows winning at ISU.
Experience might not be everything. For those saying "let's try something different," this would be different.
But Rob Jeter was reported last time, and he didn't get the job. Once your name is out there, you're not likely to get hired.

You forget he was a Johnny Orr recruit...He knows Johnny Orr too!

If this were a situation where we just made it to the tourney and all players were coming back, then Mac left I'd be ok with this but... I think it's asking a little too much out of a new head coach with zero coaching experience and no recruiting ties. I don't want to have to fire Freddy because we asked to much of him.

No thanks. Just like Iowa would be crazy to hire BJ Armstrong without the proper experience.

Next please

Jesus ****** No.

Freddie has no coaching experience, no recruiting connections etc. I love Freddie, but this is not a good hire. Hope he proves me wrong.

awful move

I love the Mayor but no. Please no.

OH

Please do not be true.

Worst hire ever.

if this is true, it'll be the first time i've wanted Jaime gone.

No way. The guy would have made an effort to get into some form of coaching if he was interested. He can't possibly expect to get hired just on the basis of being a nice guy and ISU grad

You sir, are a MORON.

It's fun to look back so we can see who the morons are, or the ones that think they know everything about everything. Glad to see not everyone was against the hire, as you will never know how a coach will work out.

I said I hope not but in my defense I was 15 years old and was too young to know anything about Hoiberg other than he went to the same HS as me and was good at ISU/NBA and worked in the front office.
