Easiest way to answer this - does anyone actually think Houston is one of the top 2 teams in the country?
I believe this is just about a BCS Bowl, not the NC...

That would be nice for the Big12 if TCU goes to the BCS this year!
And there's still an outside chance of West Virginia being the Big East rep.
What if there was a top four team playoff. Then the two losing teams the first round play in a Bowl game and keep the rest of the bowl system the same. Only adds one additional game for the four teams... Not exactly a full playoff, but hey it could be an improvement.
Puuuulease gramps. If you don't have any strength in schedule, you don't deserve to be in the championship.
If someone develops some "perfect" playoff system + the bowls, I will support it. Until then, just say no to Boise, Houston, etc. in the national championship.
Sarcasm went right over your head.
Really, how many people agree with CRAZYGREG? I can think of one.....CRAZYGREG
OK...you're right. I'm assuming a bcs bowl isn't going to take a Boise team with a loss as an at large team over someone like Michigan.
The point I was trying to make is that TCU is much more likely to receive an auto bid if Houston loses than Boise since TCU will be conf. champs over Boise.
3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:
A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.
No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.
As it stands right now TCU has NO chance of making a BCS bowl
And there's still an outside chance of West Virginia being the Big East rep.
Assuming Rutgers, West Virginia, Louisville, and Cincinnati all end up with 5-2 records in the Big East (which is what is favored to happen right now), the Big East rep would be West Virginia. Against the three teams they are all tied with, WVA and L'Ville have best records at 2-1, and WVA would have highest BCS ranking with a 9-3 record compared to Louisville's 7-5 record.
In fact, if West Virginia wins out by beating Pittsburgh and South Florida, the only way that they don't win the Big East is if there is only a two-way tie between them and Louisville. For that to happen, Connecticut has to beat Rutgers this Saturday, Cincinnati has to lose one of their next two (against Syracuse and Connecticut), and Louisville has to beat South Florida.
So basically, Louisville fans are also huge UConn fans for the rest of the year
Hope you enjoyed your dose of Big East knowledge
How's Houston ranked 8th while Tulsa's unranked? They're both undefeated in C-USA, the only diff is Tulsa played better non-conference opposition and lost while Houston played nobody. BTW has anyone noticed that a ton of Houston's highlights are 5-10 yard passes to wide open receivers who don't even have to make a man miss? I just feel like they're WAY overrated
