Actually it was a nickname in high school. The first four letters are the same as in my last name.

I've been wondering about yours for a long time. Reading this, I was about ready to reach through the interwebs & grab you by the throat...

:) Yeah, it's pretty out there, but the guy who gave it to me was also occasionally "out there." And in all my time on the interwebz, that username has NEVER been taken already.

My ancestry is part German, and I tried to come up with an actual translation, but it ended up more like this:

ACHTUNG!ALLES TURISTEN UND NONTEKNISCHEN LOOKENPEEPERS!DAS KOMPUTERMASCHINE IST NICHT FÜR DER GEFINGERPOKEN UND MITTENGRABEN! ODERWISE IST EASY TO SCHNAPPEN DER SPRINGENWERK, BLOWENFUSEN UND POPPENCORKEN MIT SPITZENSPARKEN.IST NICHT FÜR GEWERKEN BEI DUMMKOPFEN. I've also wondered if you came to ISU from Mt Vernon, or if you moved there afterward. I graduated from BHS in Bellevue, many many MANY moons ago.

Born and raised in Ames (Ames High '99), went to ISU, got a job in Marshalltown. I did a student exchange to Germany (took four years of German in high school, and that Deutschenposten was hilarious btw) and got to travel to some interesting places for that first job, and I decided that I wanted to live outside Iowa at least for a while. I've always had a thing for the PNW so it was an area that I targeted. Things finally worked out and we moved to Mt. Vernon a couple years ago. We like it here - I don't know if we'll ever move back to Iowa or not, maybe someday...

Bellevue is really nice, and pretty upscale. I don't know if that's always been the case, but now it's apparently the most expensive housing in the Seattle Metro. Everything in downtown is shiney and new (it doesn't even have moss on it yet!). Except for the PACCAR corporate building, which is known as the "old, ugly building in Bellevue."

Paccar is where my sis worked her last job before retiring. I left Bellevue in 73, went to WAZZU, came home for breaks for a couple years, then married & lived full time in Pullman while ex finished his PhD. When I left Bellevue, the tallest building was four stories. It was a small town type of city. Lots of people, but VERY suburban. Then Microsoft moved in, and a lot of other high tech, and the place exploded into the type of place I hate going to. The Bellevue I knew is long gone, and I rarely go back. Went out for my fortieth a couple of years ago, the house I lived in is now a 3 mill dollar McMansion, and I didn't recognize half the places I hung out at. Last year they tore down our beautiful red brick BHS with the iconic math tower & peeps on the front, and built a glass monstrosity in its place. I hear they kept the peeps...but there's nothing there for me to remember any more. *sigh*

Yes, over the past 7-ish years they've built up the downtown area of Bellevue at a very rapid pace. At the peak, the skyline was littered with construction cranes. It's pretty remarkable how different it is from even 10 years ago.

Switched around the first letters of my first and last name. Cut out my last name, added Cyclone.

Can we change our screen names? I wish I could take off the Cyclone part and just have it be Dandy.
