Hoping J'den Cox would consider coming. I think he and Kyven would be great training partners and would have to entice some of the higher ranked upper weight recruits to come to Iowa State. But, seeing as he is mid training cycle right before worlds, I find it hard to believe he would leave MIZZOU.

So why no announcement? Are they trying to get the new staff in place so they can announce Zadick's departure and the new hire at the same time?

I'll start by saying that I was more than a little leery of hiring Zadick, I was never much of a fan when he was wrestling for Iowa, and he had that Brands stink attached to him which is tough for me to overcome. That said, I had the occasion to talk to him a couple of times and came away very impressed. He was very approachable and open and really seemed to want to do great things at ISU. For that reason, I'm sorry to see him go but that's the business and now the focus needs to be on improving the program.

There seems to be enough smoke here that this is probably coming down the pike. If Metcalf is bumped up to the full time assistant role, who is the next big name we need to land for the club? I assume Kyven is still too busy competing/a little too young to take the full blown leadership role. Are we looking for fresh blood? As much as I hate to say it, it would be nice to tie into the Penn State or tOSU pipeline a little.

I liked what I saw of Zadick. He seemed to put pouring himself into the team. Love his passion. Of course, he is hard to handle. That is what makes him so great. Too bad if he crossed a line or just decided to move on.

Lol @ Brands stink...all your assistants have it. After Va Tech (orange comments) and getting hired at ISU, I was ready to hate Dresser (in the fan sense of it...I'll never forget KD was a Hawk). The more times I meet him, the harder it gets. I'm guessing the same would happen with you for Tom and Terry. Even being a fan, I was very surprised at Tom's personality and the atmosphere in the Iowa room. If you come in to watch, even when guys are just working out or doing stuff on their own, more than likely either a coach, wrestler or both will greet you and talk for a bit.

I think that's the issue with him. What we all see is great. It's what happens when we aren't looking that's the problem and it becomes an issue for the rest of the staff.

He already left Missouri. He is training full-time at the OTC.

I understand but I don’t see many people crossing that bridge

Any chance we could pull him from the OTC :)
Just remember who the coach is there now that pulled him out there ;)

That's not to say money doesn't talk because it does. If he could coach and compete still he would have a good training partner in Gadson here and a good salary.

The few times I’ve been around terry he seemed decent and just your average person. Tom has always seemed to be wired and slightly insecure to a point. Like he’s always to prove himself and having to one up everything. Different people get along differently with others. Seems that having kids go through HS opens your eyes quite a bit and you mellow (or get priorities realigned). This is what has been my opinion of my interactions with them.

Reader is lead assistant for Bono. He isn't coming to Iowa State as a volunteer coach.
Zero percent chance of Reader leaving Bono's side. He has a good thing going and after a couple of successful years there his name will be in the hat for a good head coaching gig. They have a great staff at Wisconsin now and the tools to be good.

Right now the big ten is the top of college wrestling. That conference also seem s to prioritize wrestling more than others so the money is greater there also.

A went to a meet at Carver a few years ago. When I got home I told my wife the only reason attendance is so good is because there is no WWE, WWF, or dwarf wrestling venues near by. It's mostly the same crowd that would attend those events.
Wait, what was CW doing at an Iowa wrestling meet?
