I'm not blaming anyone for getting all excited about Brock Purdy, that's a natural reaction after a kid comes out and has the kind of performance that he did last Saturday.
But we do all need to pump the brakes a bit. It was ONE game, that's it. It's not likely he will repeat what he did last Saturday in tonight's game. But unfortunately I feel like there is a small group of people out there that are expecting that, and that isn't right. It's not fair to Brock.
Let's say he goes out tonight and has an average night and throws for something like 270 yds with 2 TDs and 2 INT's.... and ISU loses by 10 pts. What will be the opinion on here tomorrow of Brock Purdy?
Hopefully people will understand that the kid is a true freshman and was playing high school at this time last year and there's going to be some ups and downs.... and we're going up against the #6 team in the country too by the way. That's what I'm hoping the reaction will be. But I'm fearing there will be a decent number of people on here wanting Re-al Mitchell to get a shot next week, or praying that Kempt is ready to go next week, etc.
This overreaction after just one game has disappointment written all over it because there's some segment of fans out there that will be expecting the same magic we saw last week every week, and that's not realistic at all.
