How many wins will it take?

I don't think it's a one year proposition. I think he needs to be given time to see this recruiting class though. I really like it, he likes it, the staff likes it, and I think he should be given the chance. I also want to see what we can do with a fully filled out roster of players that Mangenius has helped stock. We have amazing receivers, some very good young linemen, and some young QB's that I'm excited about. Not because of what I know, but because of what the offensive staff has said about them.

Now, if he doesn't win a game this year, I may change my tune, but that's not going to happen IMO.

I'm saying I'm getting the impression people are shooting too high...haha.

That's what I thought you meant, but I think the expectations people should have that you might be alluding to would be low because the program has been driven down...of course that is probably driving up the needed expectations.

I am guessing most people saying 5-7 wins don't think we'll get it, but are saying that's what they would need. Would be a good question to ask.

Let's hope that we come out and get 6 wins next year and everyone can get back on the Rhoads bandwagon. A small part of me is optimistic, but realistically, I don't see it.

That's about right. I don't feel really confident about things getting righted to the tune of 5-7 wins but it's what it would take to restore my faith that the right people are in place.

Same here. I said 6 and I don't think CPR will get there, but that's what he needs to restore faith and keep his job, IMO. Hopefully I'm wrong and they get back to a bowl I just think the magic that existed in his first few years has run out.

We need to get back to mediocre (5-7 wins) were we were at the first 4 years AND we need to see a path then get over the hump the following year withe emerging young talent that will be coming back. We need to regain momentum and that is more than a magic number of wins.

I'll answer this question if, and when, we beat UNI. I don't want him coaching the second game if we can't beat UNI. That's where I stand. Cruel? Whatever, it's year 7, and you're damn right I expect to beat UNI year in and year out. I mean for cripes sakes, I think I want to beat UNI more than Iowa this year. Just because we're supposed to! How the hell did we get to this point?
I agree. Lose at UNI and Mangino is interim imo.

It'd be nice to be around 6 wins again and be freaking competitive in most games. The pasts 2 seasons have just been downright embarassing to be an Iowa State fan. Those first 4 years we could usually expect to at least have a chance to stay within a few scores of most teams. The past 2 teams have completely lost the fire and drive that Rhoads' first 4 teams had.

So winning one game would be sufficient? If I didn't know better, I'd think you were Stormin in disguise.

I just like Rhoads and always will. I guess his loyalty and the fact that he's a true Cyclone has made me want to keep him as long as possible. I admit it may have clouded my judgment, so I agree, it's a good thing I'm not in charge!

Hawk troll...

What's your deal? When someone says something you don't agree, you assume they're the enemy? People can't support our coach? Like the fact that he's a true Cyclone and not one that is here as a stepping stone? People do have opinions other than the ones you have. It doesn't make them a troll or a Hawk fan, it makes them different than you. If you want everyone to think alike, hit up the wayback machine and go back to 1930's and '40's Germany.

5 would give me hope that a turn-around is possible. I currently expect 0-1 wins.

Agree with those who say a loss to UNI should result in immediate firing.

I think a lot are in that camp. They need to see 5 to keep Rhoads, but probably expect 3 or less.

As a holder of a history degree I just want to officially tell you that this doesn't make any sense. Carry on.

PM me if you'd like the lesson.

You mean proven/developed players. We are far from least talented.
You keep saying that this is the best staff we have ever had and that this is the most talent we have ever had. Why are we 5-19 the last two years and will no doubt suck again this year? Something is wrong with your assessment of ISU football!

Well if you want to take the simpleton route then I agree but it might be wise to factor in a few other things before making this argument.
