outside of the 2 fanbases, no one cares about the rivalry lets be real.

That's most rivalries across the nation. Except for a few big ones (Bama/Auburn, OSU/Mich, ND/USC, OU/Tex). We have good rivalries with KU with K-State, and should play them every year. Same with Iowa.

If the question was should KSU be a protected conference game every year, the answer is yes. If the question is should KSU be scheduled in addition to Iowa in years that they are not on the conference schedule, definitely not.

Non conf games need to be used to show strength of the big12, so can't play KSU

I don't remember KSU being a rival when I was at ISU in 90s. Maybe because ISU lost most football games when I was there and because I grew up in eastern Iowa and barely knew ISU had a football team before I went there. (For the record I did not like Hawk football, was raised a Husker fan)

Well considering they are completely different situations I take it you didn’t comprehend my post. Which isn’t surprising given some you guys can’t figure out the difference between not playing for one single year vs. completely taking a decade or more off from playing each other.
You are right, they are different situations. All the examples you gave were former conference rivalries that came to an end when they were no longer in the same conference. So you are right, those were different situations since KSU and ISU continue to be in the same conference together.

And will continue their rivalry in 2028 while being conference members thus making the rivalry “not being stopped” which was the point of my reply to a post that said the rivalry was being stopped. Which you clearly didn’t read.

Yeah, we all read it. It is over 100 years of continuous play within conference without fail that is no longer going to be continuous. Comparing it to rivalries that were interrupted by teams that switched conferences is not a relevant comparison.

Again, I responded to a post that stated “stopping the rivalry”. Not once in my post you responded to was I talking about the continuous years streak. There is a difference is not playing a game that stops the streak and ending/stopping a rivalry completely, which is what I was responding to.

You can yell at the clouds about the continuous games played ending all you want, that is going to happen, but the rivalry is not ending despite what some posters keeps saying on here and what many others on social media say. Which was my entire point in the post you responded to.

Dude, the entire thread is about the possiblity of playing the team outside of conference to maintain a continuous streak of games played. The post you responded to should be read in that context. It is a short term "stop" but in that context a stop none the less.

For the record I don't think ISU should play the game outside of the conference.

If anyone is yelling at clouds, it is you.

You’re right I should I have guessed the poster’s context when they said “let’s just stop playing our traditional rivals”. That’s on me.

At least you agree with me, the rivalry isn’t ending or stopping. Just a little year hiatus.
