Replace the students with fans who care enough to attend games. We're only talking a couple hundred students here most games.
I would agree with you if the stadium was packed with non-students and the only part of the stadium not full was the student section. BUT ITS NOT!!!

Since I haven't been to Hilton in a couple of year now I just need to someone to clarify that they HAVE NOT gotten rid of walking tacos, right? I loved eating 2 or 3 of those each time I was there.

Nope, they are still there. However, they are now $5. :baffled5wh:

$5 wow. Well as long as there still there. Didn't they used to be like $2 or $3?
Oh well, gotta pay for that new score board somehow.

I would say we need to disallow any season ticket holder (student or not) who misses one game. Obviously if they miss one game, they aren't a true fan. What? You had a funeral to go to? Doesn't matter, true fans would skip funerals. :rolleyes5cz: :rolleyes5cz:

Although it's not a choice, the idea of altering Hilton for the sake of "suites" scares the crap out of me.

Leave seating alone. If you want to realign or reseat people, well ok. But I don't like this suites idea one iota. I haven't seen any real depictions of what it's supposed to look like. But I just can't picture it working. And let's be honest, I'll never be able to afford one, so why would I want it? :wink0st:

From what I gather, they'll take up the walk way around the sidelines and cut into the balcony seating. So since I can't afford the $2500 a year to get parquet, more decent seating is being taken away from people like me.

I used to say in regards to Hilton, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Well after being to a few games this year - Hilton is broke. But I don't see luxury suites helping that issue.

As for the choices given, don't really care. As long as the "Kiss Cam" never re-emerges, they can do whatever...

Luxury suites are aimed at providing more revenue to the athletic department and not providing a better atmosphere. Corporate money is a huge source of funding, not only for the suite prices but also the money that comes in for the food/beverage at every game.

And who doesn't like to see grandpa and grandma on kiss cam? It's just the spark they need to get through another 10 years of marriage!!!

Wow, 2 for 2 on ideas that people won't like. It seems like you're blaming our losing on the students

I thnk and hope he was joking. I am one for showing up to games and making it a priority. But sometimes I just can't make the games.

Replace the students? Think about that for a minute. Who stands the whole game? Who does all the cheers during freethrows, timeouts, etc? I agree our student section hasn't been attending as well as they should, but when the season ticket holders and general admission seats are filled then come talk to me about trading student seats with real fans.

I know I will get reemed for this but I think Cyclone Alley has had some negative effect on the student sections. My last couple years in school were the inception of CA and I was not a member. Why pay an additional fee to get a t-shirt and some cheap give aways every game? Once they took away my ability to come early and get a decent seat because I didn't pay a club fee, it took away my desire to show up to watch a subpar team. I still went, but it wasn't as fun.

On the other hand, winning will cure everything.

A lot of it is pressure. Other big time schools have desinated fan sections and have made money off of it.

Bring back Super Fan

In the late 80s there was a guy who put on a cardinal and gold Superman-like costume and ran around the upper deck ring to fire up the crowd.

Yes, I was joking.

(And I'm purposely ignoring your question Amy because I have missed a couple this year)
That's ok...I was just trying to get a funny reaction. I had no malice intent.

I have made it to the majority of the games thanks to Angie's husband Jon who forfeits his ticket to me! Next year I may join the ranks of a bball season ticket holder.

I haven't been in Hilton for a game for a long time. I looked at this thread and began wondering:

"Don't the Cheerleaders get out on the court and cheer during every timeout?"

Back when I went to games timeouts would consist of cheerleaders trying to fire up the crowd, the drawing for 5 for 5, and filler music by the band. Halftime would be the 5 for 5 contest, maybe some other halftime entertainment, and then the obligatory sweeping of the floor (which looked like mop races to me).

One of the best halftimes in Hilton was when Jim Gibbons addressed the crowd after being named the new wrestling coach. No one knew who his assistants would be. When he introduced and brought out Ed Banach (very nice guy by the way). The crowd went nuts!
