I think that team will be good enough to win some games they shouldn't in conference. They had a bunch of stuff rim out, and didn't shoot well from the line. Limit turn overs and finish at the rim better, make the free throws. Gonna be a long road.

Hunter shows a ton of potential.

The activity level overall was through the roof. That's probably a team that's going to get beat badly by other teams, but for the first outing, with severely disrupting foul calling (and foul trouble) I'm very pleased with how they responded.
Even West Virginia would have trouble getting that many whistles.

Ball movement on offense was great.

I'm sure that NCAA point of emphasis for officials is "on any contact is a foul".

We'll see how that plays out.

I badly want this to be true since it's the path of least resistance towards Cyclone basketball being back.

That being said, if he turns out to be a flop I can see this thread being bumped for years to come

The biggest advantage TJ has is that he coached on two staffs at Iowa State that had wildly different results, I don’t count prohm’s first year because it was all Fred’s players.

He saw, first hand, what works at Iowa State, and what doesn’t. Add in Robinson, who has obviously seen what doesn’t work here, and I think you have guys that are not going to fall into traps that led to McDermott’s struggles, and prohm’s absolute failure.

Again, I’m not sure about X’s and O’s, but the culture will be even better than it’s been since they were 18-5 in prohm’s 4th year, when the wheels fell off.

i think he will win at Iowa State. How much will be the question

Lots of P5 schools barely won tonight. Ohio St. was a double digit favorite barely won by 1 over Akron.

Give it the whole season for everything that's creating all of the excitement.

Will this team be as active and energetic and go happy go lucky as losses start piling up or teams scout their strengths?

In zero way am I saying they’re world beaters but Kennesaw State retuned like 95% of their minutes and points from last year AND William Small is on that staff so I’m sure he was able to help prep that group.

That being said good teams win, great teams cover. TJ is 0-1 where it counts
