This thread feels like I’m listening to a guy talk about going on a first date and then declaring he’s going to marry the girl…let’s give it a little more time and go on a couple more dates shall we…?

No, we shall not. I think we were all just looking for something to be optimistic about and we found it tonight.

In zero way am I saying they’re world beaters but Kennesaw State retuned like 95% of their minutes and points from last year AND William Small is on that staff so I’m sure he was able to help prep that group.

That being said good teams win, great teams cover. TJ is 0-1 where it counts

Had -10.

I badly want this to be true since it's the path of least resistance towards Cyclone basketball being back.

That being said, if he turns out to be a flop I can see this thread being bumped for years to come
Even if this would go bad this thread wouldn’t really be wrong. The team indisputably looked a lot better. They are still going to struggle a lot this year but they looked a lot like Fred’s first year. There was just a different mentality with the team. Is it going to be ultimately successful who knows but the signs are there for this to be much better.

Tough might be a stretch, but they were competent. Also very quick and aggressive. They were not some garbage team that doesn't know what they are doing. More of a test that I expected.

Too lazy to look--did they have a lot back from last year?

That makes such a difference early in the season.

Either way I'd like to think it was a good game for the coaches to get a real feel for where things are.

ISU may have to go more Hoiball defense style due to the lack of depth.

Heck just the players looking at the coach and looking like they wanted to be in a huddle together was a nice start.

I hope ISU wins 26 games and gets to a Sweet 16 but never covers just to bump this so hard.

Our guards get after it. I feel pretty good about our perimeter D between Kalscheur, Brockington, Grill, Tre and Tyrese. I was just glad to see some pride and hustle.

I don't want to bag on Steve but this game made me realize how tired I was of watching that offense. We moved the ball all around in a multitude of ways. We'll definitely need to work on getting the ball up the floor against pressure though.

So much work to do but if they can finish at the rim more consistently, make their free throws and limit turnovers this team can win some games it shouldn't.

Hunter has some serious ups by the way. Can't wait to see him get stronger and start tomahawk dunking when the lane clears for him.

Lastly, Blum is an awesome play by play.

Sure, but a team that returned many from last year and included a couple of transfers that would likely play for many in P6. I actually thought that it was a great team to play in the first game, not some lay down in the gutter sacrifice.
Ya and they had fire in their bellies. Great first opponent.

I think they showed a graphic where they returned 95% of their scoring from last year.

Thanks yeah saw that from someone else.

That's a really nice first test for a new team/coach.
