Just for arguments sake why do you suppose we have been getting blasted with injuries especially to our two lines the past few years?
Is it purely bad luck, improper S&C regimen, or purely a result of our recruiting philosophy?
The argument can be made for all three. To me the main culprit would be our recruiting philosophy with some help from our S&C program. We are reaching for kids who have the height and reach desired for the lines but they lack the natural weight and build. This does not mean they do not have the frame to add the weight but rather there bodies just are not developed to this point yet or are more or less a couple value meals a day from being where the highly recruited players are.
Does adding all this weight along with such an aggressive S&C regimen in a short amount of time lessen the odds of a healthy career? These players bodies may have not been accustomed to the extra stress of 20 to 30 lbs or more along with the stress that comes with rigors of football.
Just some questions for debate. What are you opinions?
