Honestly, I think he will be done. I want to hear the whole story. I know this is linked to Nealy's run-in this summer, but does anyone know the actual details about what happened?

Nealy was in the group, but wasn't doing anything wrong. The police first thought it was him, but the others (includes some players) in the group vouched for Nealy. Nealy just had a BB gun on him. Rhoads knows this too and Nealy isn't going to be punished for anything.

As for Gary, I think he's pretty much done.

Is it safe to assume he'll be sitting out additional games? I'm no lawyer or judical expert, but isn't a 25K bond amount fairly high?

Stupid (not bond amount, actions of Albert)...

Usually Judges set that amount, but to actually get out you pay 10% to 20% of the actual bond to be released.

I agree.

Didn't want falsely spread rumor's, I removed Nealy's name from my previous post. Just curious about the whole ordeal.

Hasn't been removed from the roster yet, interesting to see how this plays out.

Someone must have posted it, he was on twitter a few hours ago

Interesting...

In general...armed robbery versus attempted armed robbery...in a case like this incident with ISU FB players, why should these be treated differently? What ultimately matters to society is the intent to do harm (and taking other people's stuff is doing harm), which is the same in both cases. Whether or not the victim being robbed actually had something to steal on his personage should be of minimal importance. The main issue is that a person wanted to steal something from somebody else, and was willing to threaten violence in order to do so.
Once the threat of violence is displayed and the demands made, there is no question of intent.

Given our legal system, charges are often pled down to something lesser for convenience, and everything is "fine" legally. But that doesn't change the real severity of the crime.

If it did really happen that 2 FB players tried to stick up people with a gun, and the majority of the ISU athletic community sees that as no big deal, then ISU athletics is on very dangerous path.

in my personal experience, the plea (way down) was exactly what took place (I had no problem telling them what took place and what didn't).. the charges filed against me were "pie in the sky", and hoping to catch something that wasn't there .... to put it bluntly, the charges were ********.. but that is what a lot of county attorneys do, charge up so they can keep something.

so your statement maybe correct, but a lot of times the actual crime is pled guilty too where the charged crime isn't accurate at all.

So, I take charges with a grain of salt .... however when a judge sets bond, that typically is a good indicator of how well aligned the charge and crime are..

That's hilarious.

Sounds like this is far from over. Pretty serious accusations. I'm guessing CPR gives him the boot.

CPR already handed out the punishment for the accusations.

that part is done.

IMO, the only MORE to this is if he IS guilty and found guilty.

It's funny how charges can go to either extreme.

Some charges get trumped up, just so they can make sure something sticks when they are plead down.

Other times, charges start out lower and actually stick.

I think that is one reason why coaches are usually not so quick to pull the trigger.

Gary was suspended initially because he admitted to doing something stupid. I don't think any of us know the actual details of what happened. CPR has to go off what he knows. If he immediately kicked every kid off the team who wa charged or may be charged, he'd have a pretty small team and would feel pretty bad when some of them were found to have done nothing wrong.

All in all, this wont get swept under the rug, and if something serious comes down, Gary will probably be gone which is all his own fault.

Look I know you guys make fun of Ferentz and his punishments...but wouldn't this be on that level if it is only a 3 game punishment for armed robbery?

He wil prob be gone after the season. I think he should be gone now, we don't need other players to be hanging out with guys like Gary is.

If that is the only punishment, than yes. But I would expect more punishment will be coming down as this progresses.

That is what I was discussing with keepngoal, because he seems to think the punishment is over and done with no matter if he is guilty or not.

I think the charge is only robbery and not armd robbery not sure.

Also, I am hoping that CPR wont give Gary a glowing recomendation if he transfers to play for another team. So, Ferentz still has that going for him.
