Wow, Gilbert didn’t even win the backup kicker job. Appears he can be added to the list of high school kicker recruits that have not panned out for Campbell. That appears to be one area where he has yet to succeed in recruiting
Surprised me as well
There is zero reason, but they won't anyway.
UNI will stack the box and we’ll throw over the top zero times.

Not sure what it means when the top four recruits from 2022 haven't made the chart. In some cases it looks like lower ranked players of their position and class jumped ahead. Would suck if someone like Gaines, a rare four star for us, had a similar path as Joe Scates.

- Greg Gaines (WR)
- Hunter Deyo (OL; left team)
- Jacob Imming (LB)
- Andrew Keller (TE)

Two of them are injured. The WR didnt get jumped by anyone and Deyo is not on the team.

We also went from a left handed QB to a righty.

This statement is purely an aesthetic one.

But lefty QBs always weird me out.

Offenses built around them just always seem... awkward. Backwards. Guys are generally better blocking and running to the right than they are going to the left. This has been true throughout human history, too... the Greek phalanx and Roman legions were known by their commanders to be rightward strong.

A lefty QB cuts against that. Some people who actually know football will probably say I'm stupid for saying that, but I can't think of many great NFL QBs who were lefties outside of Steve Young.

This wasn't actually Dekkers' problem... goodness me we all know what that ultimately was... but the whole thing just felt "wrong" last year as a result. A lefty with his arm should be a pitcher, not a QB.

The weight of the Oline man really throws a wrench into the idea that they are getting lighter, everyone is over 300 pounds on the first team.

Disappointed in no Gaines

I would love it if someone asked CMC today about some of these two deeps, but probably won’t happen.

Ask about Gaines, ask how Neal became the starter at LT, ask about Willich beating out McLaughlin, the kicker, etc etc. Just do it!

330, 325, 310, 325, 335 is your starting offensive line..

ZERO reasons why you shouldn't run for 4.5+ yards per carry against FCS UNI

Welcome to the last 10 years of ISU football.

If we DO come out and manhandle ISU I think it bodes well for this team hitting the upper echelons of it's abilities. If not, I don't think that bodes well for the entire season.

This might be the year where the UNI game carries the most significance.

Do you honestly think he's going to discuss injuries?

I think it honestly only matters if we get manhandled by their DL. If we do okay, and of course win, then it's a good thing. UNI is a good enough coached team where if they stack the box and sell out for the run, we're not going to have much success running it. That's where we have to be open enough in our offense to take what they give us. Throw the ball around, run sideline to sideline, roll out Rocco, etc. Running up the gut into a slew of defenders is a dumb move and is setting your OL up for failure.
