Fran didn't change his mind. Hogue chose ISU > Iowa. Amardi is now at Oregon because we needed a scholarship to open up for Deandre Kane. Fran accepted Jok's (9/23) commitment before Hogue (9/30) committed? Fran has proven that he won't accept someone else's commitment when he has a player he wants more. Fran got the guy he wanted.

I pulled the 8 number out of nowhere. I didn't mean it literally. But looking at the rosters the point is still there. We have 3 guys 6'6 or taller (one is just 6'7) that see a lot of action. They have 7 guys that are just as tall or much taller that see a lot of action. Olaseni, White, and Basabe are very active and athletic. Utoff is 6'9 and very active and seems to have a nose for the ball. Marble is no stiff and Woodberry is very tall. Our guys get the most out of what ht. they have, but fouls could be a major issue. It is going to be a matchup problem for our guys and their length on the inside and the outside will be a challenge to deal with.

In retrospect, Fred clearly made the right choice in selecting Kane, particularly with Bubu not eligible. Kane is having much more impact than Amardi would have, although I would rather he had selected Amardi vs. K.J.

Agree, plus Hogue and Ejim both play bigger than they are. Maybe the Iowa faithful realized why Fran wanted Hogue so bad after tuning in yesterday?

The key is whether a player can play defense and rebound. I seem to recall that ISU dominated the boards vs. Ohio State last year. Also pretty sure Ohio State had the size advantage. I don't remember how Iowa did against Ohio State last year, but Iowa finished lower in the conference.

Also, the downside of having bigger players is that they can't run with smaller players.
