Seriously? We all complain about how the NCAA has it out for Iowa State and we get sanctioned for everything we do and this just disappears?

It didn't just go away. The NCAA looked into it and every coach on the staff has a letter from the NCAA stating that nothing illegal occured.

You didn't see that because it was burried on page 6, unlike when Pollard leaked the story to some no-name reporter and it was front page news.
:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Please tell Wayne "Hi" the next time you see him.

It amazes me that ppl believe he was a better coach that Mac is. Sure Mac hasn't produced the wins, but look what Wayne did to the program... look what he told players to do... and look what he ended up leaving Mac. He is STILL cleaning up that mess of a 'program' Wayne only inherited because of a crappy AD. Imagine if Greg had the helm when Wayne took over... it wouldn't even be close....

-keep.

What is he going to do at Miss. St?

He was a great coach for ISU. 2 Big 12 Titles. Give the man some props for that.....since we have never had anyone do that.

He should have never been let go...that's all.
How many times did Bob Knight get 2nd chances?....heck...Eddie Sutton drove across 5 lanes of highway drunk...caused an accident...then hit a tree. This guy put people's lives in danger....and he got a contract extension that very same week Geoffrey got rid of LE.

The difference is those guys won, and Larry hadn't done that since Tinsley left and hasn't since he left ISU.

Wayne left some pretty damn good players for Mac. However, he was unable to retain them. That's not Wayne's fault? If Jamie wouldn't have told Gmac that those players wouldn't leave he may well have headed down to Iowa City.

Mac is cleaning up his own mess.

Coaching is based on win's and losses. This is a business don't kid yourself. That how you are judged, unless you are heading to Auburn. All I am saying in the whole thing is his results at this point should require some heat on his position as head coach. If we as a fan base are willing to accept the results we have seen to this point and continue to hang hopes on what may happen in the future or the recruits that may come in and help us win I think we need to look at what we are expecting from this program.

What did he do to the program besides right the ship after the LE scandal, continue to bring in talent even though we were the laughing stock of the sports world and go to the post season?

What did he tell the players to do other than give the new coach a chance and if they didn't feel he was the right fit he would help them find a better fit, something ANY departing coach should tell his players...

+1

I've used too much rep in 24 hours so I'm keeping a list to get back to people.

Morgan did not leave any players for Mac. I won't for a moment believe he told anyone to stay and give the next coach a chance. Sell crazy somewhere else.

Lets say for a second you are right and Morgan was telling players to leave.

What does it say for Gmac's recruiting that he can't recruit players that have already committed to the school, played for the program and they guy who out "Recruited" him doesn't have a coaching job?

He has no interest in coaching anymore, he's making plenty of money doing what he is now and spending more time with his family... Beleive me, he isn't climbing any ladders either, just cashing checks...

I can buy he is enjoying time with his family. Props to anyone for doing that.

But if he was good he would be on coaching search lists at the least.

I am suprised he hasn't been brought on as a recruiting asst yet. I will give him props that he was an excellent recruiter.

And if what Jamie Pollard told Mac was true, the players are here for the University not Wayne Morgan, how did that work out for him?

He won't be an assistant. He doesn't want to be away from his children. That is the only reason he isn't coaching right now.

It says these players committed to a coach and not a school. When their coach was canned they said screw u isu.

You can not blame an incoming coach for losing a previous coaches players. Especially when those players just had a coach they liked fired.

But you can blame the outgoing coach who just got fired for those players leaving?

Three straight NCAA tourney appearances over the same three year span.

I don't blame Morgan but I don't for a second believe he told them to stay.

And I also don't blame Morgan for his actions. Any normal person would be upset at getting fired.

But I absolutely won't blame mac for not being able to retain those players.

Well, let's see what Jacksonville State brings to the conversation. Let this be the coin toss between the two of you?

Sorry I got your quote confused with someone else I was bickering with that did blame Wayne. I need a flow chart for who said what that I can reference easily

I don't blame Mac for not keeping the players, that is a hard sell, especially with completly different styles.
