But the McDermott shills are saying we are better off without Wes, he was a cancer, a horrible defensive player and an overrated offensive player...

Iowa is much younger than us, I don't care how you spin it.

Iowa's top 6 in minutes goes Freshman, Sophmore, Freshman, Senior, Sophmore, Freshman.

Why don't we just go ahead and let this thread die? We've got a quality coach and good young players here and more on the way. The last thing we need is two head coaching searches.

Maybe we can dual hat the coach position and pay more moola.

Remember all of you that want Mac back because of his loyalty - you have that with McD. Enjoy it, he is not going anywhere for awhile.

McD you need to send a really nice Christmas card to GC for taking the heat off you this winter.

McDermotts job hinges on HB? OMG, dumb. I would hope his job hinges on his performance over his contract. We should be focussing our negativity on a coach who betrayed us not a coach who wants to be here.

Did you use OMG in a post? Are you a 16 year old Female?

You could make a point that landing HB is part of the performance GMac should be graded on. And it's not like JP has been willing in the past to give coaches until the end of their contract to see how they pan out.

I agree the HB recruiting should be a part of the way McD is viewed, not the only thing - but a piece of the big picture.

Well, then Mac is in trouble. Next year will be the year for him. If he fails next year, gulp.

Yes I did use OMG. Its gotten to be habit. Sorry. I just dont buy that a player who has alot of interest in the top schools in the nation should be considered a job rocker. If we got him and GMac did nothing with him, then should he be graded.

no need to fire gmac. things are still a bit rocky and maybe its just me but i see alot of good things about our team and the foundation that gmac is laying. i wish wed bump thompson and start hamilton for the rest of the season. he would take a bit of the double team off brackins, open it up a bit and give our 3 pnt shooters a chance to throw em up. lets say we get rid of mac, then what? do we take a guy like floyd who leaves in a couple and is looking for a "better" place or do we hold tight, let greg develop things and see where that takes us. greg wont leave us and loves being a clone, thats the type of guy we need, not some ahole like chiz looking to get out soon as he gets here. maybe im in the minority but i think placing mac on the fire is a bad option for us clones at this point.

I agree that is job shouldn't be based soley on his ability to sign Harrison. However, the other aspects of his program aren't exactly rolling along in the way we all would have hoped. Right now Mac is trying to sell the future and adding HB would be a very very good way to make sure he can sell the future for a little while longer.

I don't care if he signs Harrison or not. I don't really care if he's evaluated on that. The only thing I care about is winning. Obviously getting a guy like Barnes can help you there but I don't care about who he gets as long as he can win with them.

Fan-up and get behind GMac and this team. We have a young team, a new basketball practice facility being built, and recruiting prospects look bright. Go Cyclones!

This thread is embarrassing. The "firing" BS in college sports is out of control. Give me some freaking stability. Gmac is recruiting pretty well, lets see what he can do with some better players.

Exactly...we are paying a heavy price for all the constant coaching changes. Mac is doing fine considering all the crap he's gone thru.

if you set a precident of firing coaches after three years and the coach that follows that individual has no where near the success the forementioned had these conversations arise.

Does anybody want to see ½ the guys on the current team transfer and lose every single recruit that has verbally committed? I don’t. We have a young team, a new practice facility being built, and some good recruits coming in. Stand behind GMac and this team.

You are missing a few key details of that precident.

Previous coach was hired by different AD.

Previous coach was only hired because NO ONE worth a poo wanted the job so we settled for an existing asst from fired coaches staff who was canned from his last head coaching job.

Previous coach couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.
