Not while Pollard is AD (and I don't see him being gone anytime soon). If Pollard fires him, it makes him look bad. If Pollard fires him, it will be after McDermott has had 5 years to get all of his own players here. I think Pollard's job is pretty secure right now so I don't see it. While the products on the field aren't good by any means, losing your head football coach to Auburn won't hurt Pollard much. His improvements to Jack Trice, planned improvements to Hilton, and basketball practice facility hold a lot of weight. Additionally, most other sports are on the rise (see cross country, track & field, volleyball, etc.)

If core players leave the program at the end of the season. If player turnover has been like the last 3 years we will never have a winning program.

Pollard's job is not in jeopardy. I'd be willing to bet on it.

McDermott won't see any heat this year. Next year the heat will be turned up very high assuming we end up around .500 or below this season. No way in hell he sees year 5 unless things change.

well his loyalty definitely is. I was a big supporter but this chizik ******** and mcdermitt not being able to coach himself out of a junior high game has me wishing he would just leave.

Lets deal with one coaching crisis at a time- it's a long time till we finish this season, we can talk about this when the time comes.

JP has done some good things financially, but the main job of an a.d. at most bcs schools is to hire and/or retain a good football coach (and to a lesser degree a basketball coach) and everything else falls in place. JP had no background in either football or men's basketball, and it has shown in his hires. Not giving Morgan a 4th year when he could have had the whole team returning was a major mistake, and not hiring Brian Kelly was another. We're paying a huge price for both of those mistakes with a two year run of probably the worst years in ISU football/basketball history. Auburn can take Gene if they want him because he's not a proven head coach, and nothing he's done at ISU indicates he will be anytime soon.

If we don't get to the NCAA by the time Diante, Lucca, and Craig are done, you have to fire GMac!!!

I wish the best for GMac, but I don't think he can get it done.

Cincinnatti's program was in better shape than ours, but Kelly has beat 6 ranked teams in less than 2 years at Cincy and they had only beat 5 ranked teams in the whole history of the school before he got there. He's in a bcs bowl this year and had to juggle qb's all year because of numerous injuries. He runs an innovative offense and high energy and aggressive defense and could have brought most of his staff intact to ISU. I have no doubt he would have won more than 5 games the last two years, maybe quite a few more.
