Is there a bigger loser in conference realignment than Mizzou?

They haven't won a regular season Big 12 Championship EVER! What makes you think they will be relevant in a league where:
#1 Kentucky ....................................#2 Who cares?

Well, not quite. I'd put it as:

#1 Kentucky...................................................................................................................................................................................................................#2 Florida.............................................................#3 Vanderbilt............#4 Who cares

lol I never said they'd be relevant, and I'm not making an argument for them. I think they made a bad decision. I just see them as doing well in basketball. They can feast on the sucky SEC.

to answer the OP's question.....I submit Colorado.

Sure they aren't doing great athletically, but they'd probably be doing just as bad, maybe even worse in the B12. They've wanted to go somewhere like the PAC since the Big 8 days, and honestly you can make an argument that they are a better fit for those schools than they are to the Midwest and Texas schools. Missouri on the other hand gives up by far their biggest rivalry to go to a conference which is going to be much more difficult for them to win, for not that much more money, where they will be on an island within their division and have no rivals.

It's an apples to oranges comparison.

I'd agree with this. The PAC is regarded well academically, and Colorado was kind of on an island in the Big 12.

I think it was a terrible, knee-jerk move.

But i wish people would stop talking about the SEC like it belongs in the NFL. They aren't quite that good.

Well they do pay their players, so you can't blame people for comparing it to the NFL:jimlad:

What's funny is that the success will be mitigated by the SECs horrendous RPI. In Missouri and TAMU they are getting one team that is extremely senior laden (and will likely be mediocre next year) and one that looks god awful this year. In other words the conferences RPI won't be helped at all in the short term. Over the last 6 seasons the SECs best RPI is 3, while it has been 6th 3 times I believ. The Big 12 has been number one in RPI 2 or 3 times, with their worst being 3rd. In losing the aforementioned schools while gaining WVU (TCU adds nothing in bball) the Big 12's RPI won't be hurt, especially in the short term (and given that several teams including ISU, KSU, Texas, and OSU return a LOT next year). In other words, Missouri's non-con will have to get a WHOLE lot better for this to really help them in basketball. Being 3rd best in a conference that is generally horrendous below the top 3-4 teams won't do a much in terms of seeding come tourney time. It may end up hurting them.

The only good thing this move does for Missouri is bring in more money. But what does that money really do if it doesn't elevate your programs? It may help many of the non-revenue sports but that's NOT why these moves were made. I won't even get into the disaster that football will be. Mizzou will be getting their ***** handed to them in brand new/remodeled stadiums. Unless the Big 12 falls apart (which could happen) this is a horrendous move.

People on my Facebook keep telling KU fans to have fun when the Big XII collapses and they have to move to the Mountain West. Really? Do they honestly think the Big XII is going anywhere? I'm glad their gone.

The funny part is that Misery essentially started all of the conference realignment to begin with, and now they're the ones in the worst position of all the programs that moved. I can't wait to watch their slow fall into becoming the remote outpost of the SEC in football. They might be OK in basketball, but they're going to get smoked in football.

I still can't figure out why one single Missouri fan would like this move to the SEC?

They will now have NO rivals whatsoever, and instead of traveling to places like ISU, KU, KSU, OU, OSU, and the Texas schools.... they get to travel to places like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. Yes, they are warmer places, but they are halfway across the country. They will not develop one single rivalry IMO. Maybe Arkansas, that would be it.

I would HATE this move from a fan's standpoint.

I agree it was a bad move. But there is one point that needs to be made. Divisions are for football only. They have no impact on basketball or on how basketball will be scheduled. Missouri will most likely play Arkansas in BB home and away each year.

So? From what they gain in basketball they will be destroyed in football. I think even Gary Pinkel decommitted after their decision to head to the SEC.

Yeah, all they did was sign the consensus number one recruit in the country. And they have an excellent chance to win the SEC East next year in Football as well. After that, we'll see.

Biggest loser(s): All current and future Aggy football coaches. That fanbase will never figure out what their place really is and their coaches will continue to get fired as a result.

You can definitely see why A&M, Nebraska, and Colorado made their moves. We can argue about this and that with their moves, but at least we can see the ego and other reasons behind their moves. The MU leadership basically admitted that their #1 motivation to move was fear. None of the other 3 could say that. MU's #2 reason to move was money, and at the end of the day, when the B12 renegotiates the Tier 1 deal in a few years the money difference will be minimal.

At the end of the day, everything is about football and Tennessee and Georgia are sleeping giants that will soon reawake to join S. Carolina and Florida as pretty stiff competition.

I could see Missouri winning the SEC East next year. They will have a good team. They will definitely win 8-9 games. After next year is anyone's guess though.

Missouri will be fine, the Big 12 will be fine.
