Is there such a thing as an intelligent conversation with a Hawk fan?

I have a very limited number of people who I can have an intelligent conversation with but there are some. But I also have some Cyclone buddies who have never had an intelligent conversation with a Hawk fan. The extent of their in depth analysis is "Hawks Suck"

What a war of words they would have with 90% of hok fans......

Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!
Clone fan: Hawks suck.
Hok fan: GO HOKS!!!!!!

I love the talk about how you cant be a real fan without going to the university of Iowa or Iowa St. Yet everyone that says this will also go out on sunday and cheer on the Packers or Bears ext. Im a colts fan but i never went to the University of the Colts.

Get my drift?

I've spent 19 years of my life in Eastern Iowa. My bitterness and utter dislike is aged over many, many different occurrences. Out of curiousity how many times have you had someone attempt to pick a fight with you for no other reason then wearing an ISU t-shirt? Or spit at you? Or have your trailer windows shot out because there was an ISU flag near the back window? Etc, etc.

Grow up? Please. **** them.

Could it not be because of the color of the shirt you wear or the flag you fly but the level of DB you are?

You're right. When I put on an Iowa State t-shirt to grab groceries I make sure to scream obsenities about the Hawkeyes and chant "Go State" up and down the aisles. Also that trailor sitting anonymously in storage was definitely being a *****, I'm almost sure of it.

Yes, you can have an intelligent coversation with them - just don't go on hawkeyenation.com for it. In my experience, the most civil conversations with Hawk fans have been with those who actually have graduated from the U of I - but, that does not prove that the non-graduate Hawk fan isn't able to speak intelligently & respectfully about the rivalry.

It probably has more to do with the level of hok douchers that he is surrounded by.
It most defnitely is. I have plenty of friends that are Hawk fans. Hell, I'll be in IC with about 15-20 of them this weekend as the only Clone representative. It's the rest that drive me nuts. Most of the people I work with are pretty calm about it, but not all. A majority of people that live around here will at the least give me a dirty look when they realize I'm not rooting on the Hawks.

These people are savages and I'm surrounded by them.

I went to high school with a lot of people who went to Iowa, and none of them are bad at all. They obviously bleed black and gold, but they are very civil and dont take it to extreme.

Its the Tavern Hawks that I cant stand. The ones who bleed black and gold, but have no affiliation what so ever to the University of Iowa. Coincidentally, they are the ones who typically skipped college...

This is not my experience. Among the Hawk fans I know, several of the real ******** (that you can't talk with) are indeed graduates of Iowa. Some of the rational fans never went to school there.

I also will be in Cesspool City for the game with a group of friends and I will be the only one representing ISU. These people bleed black and gold but have no issue with ISU other then the week we are playing them. They would be in the tiny minority of the hawk fanbase. It is the vast majority of hawk fans that make my hatred for all things hok boil over. If I walk past you with my Clone gear on it doesn't mean you need to yell in my face "Go Hoks!!!!!!!" or "ISU Sucks!!!!". I am sorry.... Do I know you? Do I care what some strangers opinion is? I saw your black and gold Stanzi for Heisman shirt and was already well aware of your low IQ so you have nothing to prove.

Every year, the same conversation. News Flash...the fan bases mirror each other for the most part. The same percentage of DB fans exist in both groups. The same percentages did not attend the school, live in a trailer, are professionals, are good fans, ect. I'm not sure why that is so hard for both sides to understand.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike isu with all my heart. Yet I can still have an intelligent conversation about the upcoming game, and it would be hypocritical to degrad you clone fans for something that is equally true of Hawk fans.

Based on people on this board and Hawkeye Nation, some always have the same obnoxious degrading manner. My guess is that they carry that into the office or checkout line conversation and make the entire fan base look bad. Yet, there are those who always have an intelligent realistic approach and it comes through also. Unfortuetly those of us that take that route are usually seen but not heard.

I mean you post something ignorant like this topic (as many clone fans have agreed) and then talk about Hawk fans not being able to have an intelligent conversation? There's the pot calling the kettle black.

I found two mistakes, can you find them?
