Just when our D looks to be better than Avg our most critical D lineman in years is in a boot

Yes, it hurt losing Tucker. the defense still played pretty good but I don't think they have a good season if he can't come back soon.

Sprained ankle. Very glad it wasn't worse than that. Might be back next week @ Toledo, might not, but he won't miss much more than that (if any) because of this

Not sure what you were watching. With Tucker Iowa couldn't move the ball. Once Tucker went out Iowa drove it at will and it took dropped passes and a fumble to stop them.

I thought maybe I was going overboard by stating Tucker was our best player by far after the UNI game, but it was night and day once Tucker went out.

Just seeing how upset Tucker was on the sidelines really hurt. You can tell that guy pours his soul into this program. Once he gets healthy again watch out. He'll be looking for vengeance

Aka did ok to start, but he doesn't have the motor Tucker does. I was worried about what might happen with our defense in the 3-4 if Tucker went down.

I didn't see it happen, but my father said the guy took out his leg and that it looked dirty.

I just watched it a few times on my DVR. I don't want to believe it was intentional, but after rewatching it several times, it looks like Tucker tries to get off his block, but Walsh drops and rolls towards him immediately after initial contact. Could have been just bad luck. Sucks too, as he was about to hit Canzeri for a 2 yard loss.

Some qb pressure might've helped in those 3rd downs Iowa was converting. Mostly the loss is on the offense though

Exactly I was watching him when it happened. Tucker beat his guy and was in the backfield pursuing and it looked like the OL dove to try to cut him from the side/back and rolled his angle.

So what's your take on that as a former player? Is that a legit play and tough luck for Tucker or is it below the belt to do that?

I believe it's only illegal if the defensive lineman is engaged with another player. (Unless it's outside of the tackle box? Not sure about that part).

You are talking about a cut block. A leg whip or rolling over and swinging your legs at a guy that beat you is totally different.

I was going off of what Curt said, which sounded like he tried to cut block and accidentally rolled into his ankle. I didn't see the actual play happen, just basing it off of that description.

If it was a leg whip, then yes, a leg whip is a penalty.

This play was a leg whip or trip. The Iowa O lineman knew what he was doing. It was a play out of the Mark Farley play book

Well, I think that is what won them the game. They couldn't run the ball at all until Tucker went out. Yeah, it was the big plays that killed us, but the consistent run game in the 2nd half ground out the clock and finished us off.

It really is crazy how valuable a good DT is....

Don't you (and anyone else for that matter) think we should have gone with a 4 man front after Tucket went down?

Tucker was the engine that powered that front without him I feel we needed something else.

No offense to Knott but Wally played him way too much IMO. Just doesn't have the speed
