Borderline unforgivable? Really?
I am unsure if you are saying what he did is forgivable or what he did is unforgivable in absolute terms. If it is proven he bet on his own team that for me is unforgivable. Outside of that what he did for me is forgivable.

What if he bet on his team to win? I don't have a problem with that. Now if he bet on them to lose then that's different.

Assuming that the Head Coach explicitly told the team: Do Not Bet on College football games or any ISU Sports. The starting QB would be in violation if so. If that’s the case, I don’t see any way for CMC to allow Dekkers on the team, his credibility is 0. I would also hope that his mother didn’t know she was going to be part of this. If she did and her husband didn’t know anything about it…..not good. The “but every college kid is betting on sports” BS doesn’t cut it with me.

Iowa Gambling Commission re-affirmed today that there is no evidence to suggest the integrity of any Iowa or Iowa State sporting events should be thrown into question.

If I lost a bet on any game bet by players I would be trying to get me some free betting tendies right now.

This has been proven just as problematic as far back as Pete Rose. A non bet becomes a bet against in the eyes of anyone else. Now, absent the bookie, maybe it matters less, but I think its of small consequence and is still a major problem and can't possibly be tolerated.

Wasn't he a 4 star, highly recruited?

You take those type of players at ISU unless there's huge red flags. I don't recall anything coming up.

Sometimes it doesn't work out like tons of other players.
I agree he is and was worth taking a shot with.

Sometimes they can learn to lead along the way.

I look back at Purdy. Does he blw you away with his abilities or deep arm.... no. But it is clear ISU players and SF players try harder and give more when he leads.

Didn't see that from this kid.

It's a good tell as to how many people on here have never had to hire somebody, or even sit in on an interview.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out, no matter what you thought during the interview.

I’m saying I find it sad that someone would find a young adult/kid making a stupid mistake that caused no financial or physical harm to others as “unforgivable “. You shouldn’t judge someone on their worst moment, not on something like this. Unless they’re a hok. Then **** them.

So is this happening to all the schools or just specific schools they choose? If the SEC isn’t getting investigated I will be pissed

So…Iowa’s exposure to this is a former baseball player, a former basketball player and a backup kicker?
And former football transfer Arland Bruce. Appears they got pretty lucky but that can change.

The more I think about this, the more I believe Hunter, and probably his parents, have thought they were untouchable because Hunter could throw the ball a mile and has been all world everything in his small town for so long.

The inability for all 3 of them to not weigh out the risk/reward of these actions makes me think they are extremely egotistical or just really dumb. Maybe a mix of both? I don’t know if there is any other conclusion, especially if the parents were complicit from the beginning.

Do we know that Hunter’s parents were involved with or had knowledge of his betting prior to him getting caught? I could see them very much coming to his aid when he was being investigated and lying about the situation to try and get him off.

Do you know your parents social security number? If your kid asked you for it, wouldn’t you have some follow up questions? Getting that is the only way he could have set up the account. I guess maybe he could get access to it, but leaving that in an accessible place puts the parents squarely in the dumb category.
