Still not sure how ISU doesn’t even get a vote. Oh well, better to fly under the radar!

Well, the last time we were on the national stage we got smoked by 18 points and scored 41 points in a 40-minute game. I would be more surprised for us to get votes honestly.

Wonder if this was a pivot from typically using van Grundy because he just took a gig with the Celtics.
On the CW's TJ pod last week TJ mentioned that Van Gundy was going to stop in to visit soon. Sure that is still the plan.
If nothing else JVG can write it off as a business expense and scout Omaha/Milan.

I used to think that, but I've flipped on this. We should WANT the publicity. It is second best form of marketing for our program (outside of winning). I want articles written about us, I want college gameday, I want expectations.

I want to be in the tier below blue bloods, with schools like Purdue, Houston, Miami, Arkansas, etc. Perennial tournament teams with years of where we have a threat to make a run as a top 4 seed.

Anyone who ever claims they would rather be unranked and fly under the radar is an idiot, no ifs, ands or butts about it. There are plenty on them on here.

It makes absolutely zero sense. You, of course, want the ranking, as it shows you are winning consistently. The next step for TJ and the gang is to be consistently ranked. Helps with recruiting, perception, the list goes on.

Hmm. Top 3 in defense, but no nod for top 25. That's very interesting and somewhat confusing since it appears we've upgraded offensively by quite a margin.
The Kenpom defensive rankings and AP top 25 have nothing to do with each other. The Kenpom ranking is still relying heavily on last year's performance and has little to do with this year's team. I would say it's almost meaningless at this point other than we have had good defenses under TJ so you expect that to continue to some degree. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that #3 ranking.

It will not be a loss when he retires, I think he was implying we aren't going to have enough experience to contend, by the gas in the tank comment
I wonder if he would be replaced. Getting an independent writer might be an option. Can circulation support it?

Exactly. And for several years we were until Prohm sunk the ship. TJ is bringing it back.
