I thought we might sneak into the receiving votes category but not too surprising. Most national guys don't know more than surface level information on a non-blue blood P5 team like Iowa State.
Gary Parrish mentioned us being just outside his top 25 in their Big 12 preview. He also picked us 5th in the Big 12 which is higher than anyone else did to my knowledge. Omaha gets a mention as a top 3 freshmen in the league and both Parrish and Norlander picked ISU to make the NCAA tourney. Norlander trying to repeatedly pronounce "Biliew" was something.

I think all of the national guys are well aware of us. There really aren't that many nationals guys left anyway!

I have no problem with ISU on the outside for now. Too many new guys to know for sure. I feel like the best basketball conference in the country is wildly underrepresented, though.
I like the work of both Parrish and Norlander, but found their podcast to be utterly unlistenable. Of course, they’re the pros and I’m the guy posting on the free board, so maybe it’s a “me” problem.
Our recruiting has been great without preseason rankings the last couple years. But your point is spot-on, being ranked going in to the season is a big positive. Always felt it's harder to fall than to rise up in the rankings. It gets your team better tournament and challenge matchups. Plus better national TV games- at a minimum Big Monday games.
Can someone explain to me how we are ranked 3rd nationally in defense and have the 9th best recruiting class, and were not in the top 25? Were we that bad offensively?

In all seriousness, they'll have a chance early in the season to string some wins together. Would guess they can get ranked fairly quickly if they play to the level we think they should be at. No shame in not being ranked in a preseason poll.
Honestly, I got about through the first half and like 3 minutes in the second before I had to turn it off. My point of curiosity was based on the HS recruits/transfers, i would have assumed that was enough for us to make it into the top 25. Granted its preseason and means absolutely nothing
The Kenpom defensive rank is meaningless, and the value of incoming freshman has dropped significantly with NIL and transfer rules. The best schools are getting upper classmen free agents on six and seven figure NIL deals.
It's easily the best college basketball podcast. Norlander's knowledge of the sport is unmatched. Parrish is probably the portion of the podcast that you find "utterly unlistenable." He is admittedly an acquired taste, but once you get it, he becomes one of the best parts of the show. There are a lot of inside jokes you have to get used to, but once you get to January, their podcast is a must listen if you're into college hoops.
The Big 12 is stacked and has a lot of impact transfers, so ours are going under the radar. A lot of national guys/and many of our fans will be surprised when our least heralded transfer is leading us in scoring and our top 10 freshman is coming off the bench to start the season.
Do we have pics of our new unis yet? Other than Tre King's jersey, here (is this a game jersey?)?

Since when are we getting new uniforms!? All media day and team photos (from multiple events) indicate the same uniforms as we have had.
