I like this "only thread allowed" idea. It's times like this where it seems everyone has something to say, and everyone thinks their point deserves its own thread. This way we can confine the misery to one thread, and don't have to spread it around. Good job Jeremy. That's all I really have to say right now.

People seem so surprised sometimes when we lose. We have dead last talent in the Big 12 and have for a while.

The only way to get better is to out recruit the ones there. That takes time. We cant sign 80 players.

So you're saying Baylor has more talent - holly cow we are in trouble.:wideeyed:

I don't know why we do it. I'm slightly intoxicated right now but I still think I'm thinking pretty clearly. I basically planned my day around this game. I pretty much plan my life around ISU athletics. And for what? To watch us commit 3 false starts, a delay of game, and an illegal block in the back all inside the red zone against baylor? To watch Baylor's FRESHMAN Qb complete all but one pass in the first half and continue that in the second half? To watch Baylor convert every 4th down? There are so many of us die hard ISU fans that look pretty pathetic right now. We live for the few wins that we get. About once every 5 years we get a big win that almost makes it seem worth it. Otherwise it's nothing but heart break. And every week I keep coming back thinking we'll show up and maybe even win. This team is killing me, and I don't know how much longer I can do it. I'm also a big Vikings fan so that just adds to my problem. It might be time to just become a casual fan and lower ISU athletics on my priority list. I probably won't ever do it, but after an effort like tonight's, it's becoming more and more appealing.

Wow! We suck! We played with no emotion at all. Reminded me of the UNLV first half. Our running game is pathetic.

The thing that disturbes me is that even at halftime Ben Bruns said we couldn't stop them the way we lined up on defense. He said the same thing after the game, adding "I could have called this game for Baylor". Obviously he thought we were outcoached, hopefully the players don't think the same thing.

On a seperate note, we have been trying to build a power team for as long as I can remember. Like we are going to be a team that can run up the middle at will, then take shots downfield. There are almost no teams that play that way anymore. I don't get to see the games, just listen online. But there seems to be zero creativity. For us to succeed, I think we need to be more in the mold of Boise State, Cincy, etc. Hell, Florida and USC have 50 players each better than our best athletes, and they run fast paced wide open offenses. We need some players that can make people miss, get off the line of scrimmage, etc. More guys like JJ Moses. We get so few yards we shouldn't get. It always sounds like if the line opens a hole for a 2 yard gain, we get 2. Nobody ever seems to make anything happen. Sorry for the rant, just the thoughts of an 30 year fan who is tired.

You make too much sense. We contiinue to try to be something we are not on offense. Our backs cannot penetrate the wall and our receivers cannot get away from the defenders. We still need a gamebreaker.

If Baylor has more talent, then explain to me how this coaching staff is earning its pay.

Positives...hmmm...at least we didn't lose to them at home? I am at a loss for words. I'm not surprised considering the Bates situation (losing a team leader) and the effort they gave over the last couple of games. They were poised for a huge let down. I hope they can rebound for next week!

Did you expect them to sign 80 players in their first class?

Look how many new recruits are on the field ahead of starters from last year. Its coming... it takes a good 4 recruiting classes to turn a team at the level of ISU IMO

we ******* suck. i have spent too much time, money and energy for a **** effort like that. evidently i have too much pride, this is absolute ********, and i am sick of it. proof that we have been, are, and will be at the bottom of the big 12. winning is a great surprise, not something we can expect. not sure how the increase in ticket prices and ncc donation has panned out so far, doesnt seem like a good investment. but if aig can screw over people, why not isu?

You have to remember that Baylor is in Texas. They get all of the leftovers from Texas, TT and A&M. Not to mention Oklahoma and schools like LSU that are close to Texas. That being said, the leftovers they are getting are way better than the recruits here in Iowa. Its going to take some time to get the big boy recruits from the southern states.

Let's keep this in perspective, guys. Also, no need to bag on each other's opinions.

Does anyone else want to mentally and emotionally disconnect from ISU athletics to save their sanity but something inside just won't let it happen. I think I would be a happier man without being so passionate about my Alma maters athletics.

To repeat what Flag Guy said, watching this game at home, I knew after the end of the first half there was no way we were coming back tonight. Most games this season when we screw up I get upset at home, tonight I just sat and watched with no emotion, I felt like the lack of any enthusiasm was so great tonight that it emulated through the TV and made me not care too.

Not reading any posts...I was bored from the start. I didn't feel the rush that we might come back.

The tole of Iowa State never being good in my lifetime is really wearing thin. And no...an Insight.com Bowl win isn't great.
