Too many penalties. Why can 30k people cause the oline to false start? We are the worst that we have been in 10 years for penalities at this point. That should be a quick fix.

Dont worry.... there is always basketball.... DOH!

See that's what really pisses me off...all the jack-***** that all basketball season long are like "wait til football when we have a good coach and get to see us compete"...which I happen to think both Mac and Chizik were very good hires and need a little more time before they have us on a major upswing...but these idiots for some reason were saying all last spring that we were dogcrap in basketball and thought we were going to be great in football...looking at it objectively we're below average in both right now but with reason for optimism for the future too if you give our young coaches a chance...

//end rant

Well, I am glad I stopped by, as we are on our way to 6th Street to find drunk happy UT coeds.

The Flag Guy had it right. This group looked flat and listless even during warm-ups. I was afraid it would be a long night, and it was.

But have some perspective, folks. This was a four year rebuild when Gene took the job. Everybody knew that, even though some on here act like Gene inherited 20 all-americans. The talent level has improved over the year and half Gene has been here, and that is obvious. The problems are that it is young, and we are still behind. And, we are still behind directly due to inadequate recruiting from the previous coaching staff.

The consensus in the car is that the coaches took one for the players tonight. It was a tough week for this group, starting with a tough loss last Saturday, and a teammate quitting on them on Thursday. I thought that the coaches had by far their worst game of the 18 since they have been here, but the team was mentally shot, and I don't know how this could have been any better.

I figured, correctly, that the same people with agendas would be here with their shovels, and of course they were. But you have to remember that this isn't like basketball where 1 or 2 players can turn things around, this will take time. And the coaches have to grow with the program as well. They struggled, and need to learn from it, the last coach never did.

UNI could have beaten us tonight.

FRANKLY, we are not that young anymore. We have aged considerably. We just do not seem to have much dynamic leadership. Who will being the fire to this team? We appear to be too methodical. Who are the leaders on this team at this point? I know something similar happened over at Lincoln. They also lack adequate fire in the last two years.

Time to fire up the website---firegenechizik.com.

After an effort like that, why should this coaching staff be retained? At least they should donate their salary for the game to charity.

If Baylor has more talent, then explain to me how this coaching staff is earning its pay.

After the disgusting first half in Vegas (I was there), you would think Chizik would have these guys ready to play. He said earlier in the week that that was the coaching staff's job. Enough said.

I have good news!!! After today, Phillip Fulmer from Tennessee will be available---chance for an upgrade.

Sadly, the only joke is our football team.

So how are you doing this evening, Phillip Bates Sr.?

Sorry, not Phillip Bates Sr. Just a very very long suffering ISU fan who has had enough.

Wow, we have a guy, who inherited a bad program, 18 games into his tenure, and you want him fired.

You know the funny thing is that all of the UI people, and Nebraska people, talk this same nonsense. But you know why they do??? Because, in a moment of candor, they admit (even Nebraska fans) that Chizik is a hire that should be way beyond Iowa State. They may say all of the negative stuff about Pollard, but admit that getting a coach like Chizik is amazing for an AD at Iowa State.

The thing they say that is right, is that we have many, too many, people who are content with being the 9th best team in the Big 12, because it is easier and, more importantly cheaper.
