Let's slow our roll.

After the encouraging win against a FCS opponent I still feel like the Asian grounds keepers in Major League.

Against an average FCS DL the OL gave SR adequate time to throw, but he was often scrambling around like his head was cut off. Against Iowa SR will have even less time.

Given enough time to set his feet SR is good at throwing accurate passes and making good decisions but when forced to move both go down hill.

I predict that we'll see who is the backup because SR will be running around like the chicken in Rocky and either get hit hard enough to get taken out of the game or become ineffective.

Everyone said same thing last year..We had to face the mighty Carl Davis, Trinca Passat and OTT mind u and SR was going to be destroyed. Didn't happen. Opposite happened. The reason SR got sacked a few times Saturday early in game is because he had time to go through his progressions thru 2-3 WRs and they weren't open and he took a sack rather than throwing a bad INT. didn't help that our best lineman, Burton, got hurt last week. Ridiculous really. He's our best lineman. After things settled down our Oline played fine. UNI strength was their D and their secondary has a couple NFL prospects.

I know that the arrogant Hok fan will think they Ott to win, but they will get Beat hard and Demond mercy. Cyclones win 37-20.

You know in the early 80s someone would've made a t-shirt out of this and lost their *** when nobody bought it.

Our Defensive Line looked pretty good. What will it be like for Beahard when he faces a real Defensive Line instead of a very average FCS Defensive Line.

IMO, the 3-4 Defense had a very good debut. Getting back Trent Taylor will also help.

Iowa looked really good on Saturday. Iowa St looked okay. I have gone back and watched ISU replay a few times and I beleive our offense is much more based on intricite timing and Iowa is mor smash and I think that could explain why Iowas offense seems much more polished.

The oline didnt look as bad the second time around for ISU but I did notice the timing of blocks and passes was just off a bit. I think if we can clean up the timing things could improve next week.

If we hit a few 3 and outs early on though I do expect Iowa to win by 10.

If we can sustain some drive early and got an early lead I could see ISU winning by 10.

I agree.

The entire reason why Iowa's offense looks so much better than ours is because they are able to run the ball. And because of that, when they run play action, Beathard has guys running wide open downfield. Our offense would be absolutely frightening to defend if we could just run the ball.

Iowa has pretty average WRs at best, with the exception of Tevaun Smith, but they get by with it because they can run the ball. Can you imagine if ISU could establish a run game and we had Bundrage, Lazard, Daley, and Montgomery running free all over the field.... scary.

We could only manage a paltry 77 yds net rushing against UNI. Iowa had over 200 yds on the ground against Illinois State. That is HUGE. Mangino and Rhoads MUST find a way to get the running game going if we want to have much success this year. We can't count on nearly 200 yds worth of punt returns every game to save us.

My post was part tongue in cheek and part observation. The defense appears better than we hoped. But the team will only go as far as the offense will take them. The offense's success depends on a thin OL. The future is precarious.

Daniels scares me much more than Canzeri at running back. I see Iowa trying to pound it down or throats with Daniels like they usually try to. I don't know if they have that type of OL this year or not though.

Hopefully we put 7 in the box again and dare them to try to beat our defensive backs deep. I think we have an advantage in our DB vs their WR.

I hear Beathard can run some, but not nearly like that Bailey guy from UNI, so we've seen better running already. But, so has Iowa.

Our running game needs to be far better this game. They have solid corners, but their DL and LB are pretty average outside of Ott(he's a beast). Seeing Campos lined up against him will be a great matchup. Campos graded out pretty well in his first start ever last year against Meuller from K-State who reminds me much of Ott.

It will be another close game. I'm seeing a 27-24 type of game going either way. Hoping it's the good guys.

Well, my teenage years were in the 80s - probably explains my desperate attempt at being "punny."

Think our D-line is for real, especially with a game for confidence. Squacks are going to have to throw the football.....

Actually I'm the opposite..Canzeri worries me a little more cause he can score if in open field..LD not. LD has some power but he's not very fast. Just have to tackle well. I think Iowa's mighty offense will have a lot more trouble this week than people think.
