I love everyone panicking in an exhibition game in early November. This team will look drastically different by February. This game has zero meaning, much like most of our games till B12 starts. Talent is there, not worried one bit.

Everyone is ironing things out this time of year.

This. I can't believe how in basketball, even though each game means much less than in football, the level of freak the **** out over every basketball game is so much higher. Wondering whether football fans are more calloused to losing, or basketball fans tend toward the pantywaist set.

Always love the insight on an athletes level of being in shape from someone sitting on a couch.

I don't think you realize who you're speaking to. I run 30 miles a week. I'm no couch potato.

And it doesn't take a genius to notice that Niang is in bad shape out there. But he's young and he will get into better and better shape as the season goes along. He'll be fine.

dang, our shorts - er I mean our dresses, look the longest ever. how much speedier would the team be if we hacked off 10-inches so the come just below the knees? wouldn't we save a couple hundred thousand of budget if we wore shorts, instead of skirts ??

It doesn't matter if we win or not, it doesn't count. At that point in the game, yes, I wouldn't have cared if we lost because we weren't playing anywhere close to where we needed to be and if losing the game would have been what it would have taken to wake us up, then so be it.

Don't know about you, but long ago I learned a life lesson. Anyone who uses the phrase "do you know who you're talking to?" or any variation thereof, is either a pompous arse, or a dumb ****.

Other than that ugly 8 minute stretch, they played like I expected. Need to clean that up, they had those ugly stretches last year as well.

Don't care.

You are ragging on an 18 year old student athlete. That makes you a clueless chump no matter how many ******* miles you run. I wouldn't point it out because this is fairly minor, but you do this constantly and it's in incredibly poor form. You're a grown man, act like one for once.

Initial thoughts on the game. I know, this exhibition is hardly telling of how the season will go but initial thoughts.
Clyburn - Off game, didn't really seem too focused
Korie - Very quick, good court awareness but little effort at times leading to turnovers. Not sure how much of a team player he is quite yet.
Ejim - Same Ejim to me so far
Niang - Solid contributor and great team player. OUT OF SHAPE. Great effort guy, will see a lot of minutes
Booker - Not that impressive. Needs to attack the rim on rebounds more.
Percy - can still score, also needs to attack rebounds and be tougher on defense.
SDW - Needs some more time in the system. Seems too raw yet, and needs some lbs
Naz - I thought he looked great. My worries about him taking over the reigns at point much more eliviated. Will be a great player for us these next few years.
McGee - Killing it. Nothing else needed to be said.
Okoro - Not enough time to tell but he seems a bit lost out there. Has the body, just needs to work on his game.

FYI, Long distance running means jack **** when it comes to wind sprints in basketball. I ran cross country and felt like a couch potato when basketball started. Completely different kind of "shape"

I was ragging on him? Really? Maybe you should go back and read all my posts about Georges Niang in this thread and maybe then you'd see who looks like the fool on here? It's you.

Niang is a stud. I don't know how many times I have to say that for anyone to notice? But the fact is, he's not in Big 12 basketball shape yet. That's just an observation. Luckily, we have a long ways to go before the Big 12 season starts and he will get in better shape each and every day.

Negatives for me on the game- Rebounding. Especially giving up so many offensive rebounds to MSU. Also, the fact we didn't get to the FT line at all during the first 18 minutes of the game basically. That means we aren't attacking the basket and settling for too many 3's. And finally, not being able to get Clyburn on track, but I think he'll be fine. He was pressing a lot today.

Positives- biggest positive was McGee. I don't know how we might have fared today without the spark he provided. Amazing energy that the entire team needs to play with IMO. Next, Georges Niang. Unreal first game of his career as a Cyclone. Can score in a lot of ways, and just "knows" the game of basketball inside and out. Has a feel for the game unlike many others. Naz Long- amazing game out of him... possibly better than Luscious, but close nonetheless. If nothing else, Naz showed that we won't miss a beat with Luscious on the bench.

And finally, I liked what I saw out of Dorsey-Walker too. He's very skinny, but VERY fast with the ball and smooth too.

Got to work on rebounding, hustling after loose balls, and getting to the FT line though IMO.
