Sometimes I wonder why some people watch ISU sports when it clearly makes you so miserable. People are disappointed because the expectations were too high. It happens. This is a textbook team set to be overrated and disappoint. Lots of offensive talent and loaded with liabilities on defense. This terribly disappointing team is still going to be a 4-6 seed, making it one if the best teams in school history. Two wins in the tourney would equal the best result since 2000. This is what it is like for a good, not great program.

Good post... Good team in a very watered-down talent pool across the nation.

Game is easy to sum up:

- ISU played better basketball (IMO) in the first 35 minutes
- Officiating was absolute trash and played into WVU's hands (resulting in offensive rebounds and extra offense for WVU)
- Team was worn down in last 5 minutes which is where the game was lost (and where the game has always been lost this season)
- Burton was awesome
- Monte was awesome
- Thomas was good
- Nader was great (with a few careless turnovers)
- McKay was servicable
- Niang seems to struggle against WVU (lots of contact that isn't called while his fouls are generally pretty ticky tack)
- No bench

I believe our starting 5 is top 10, if not, top 5 in the country. Unfortunately there is zero depth.

I agree with all that, though I'd say our top six. Just hope that somehow Hallice can be used for ten minutes a game. Not sure why he isn't.

Prohm needs to trust the bench and give either Cooke or Ashton 5-10 more minutes. We can't play 6 guys the rest of the year, no way. Cooke has paid his dues and his upside is a lot more than Ashton's I think you have to play him and see what he can give you at this point. We need him to give Morris a break 5-10 each game. He's shown previously he can run the point.

Yes they can. This is a tough team to get ready for on short notice. If you are a team that has never played ISU, that would make it even harder.
No it's not. The recipie to beat ISU is easy. Run with them, play physical and wait until the last few minutes of each half and take advantage.

A 6 seed? I was off my rocker for thinking that.

I agree. Some are undoubtedly trolls. Some are undoubtedly children (in age or maturity), and some are just miserable people that no one wants to be around.

Wow - these "liabilities" you refer to - what exactly are they? Let me sum it up: effort. Teams know that we do not have the intensity - or interest - on defense that we do on offense. "Talent" - would apply to both ends of the floor, not just on the O...

In 27 years of following Iowa State basketball I can't recall ever giving up 18+ offensive rebounds in back to back games...

Lots and lots of standing around and watching when shots go up instead of finding a body, which you would expect out of a young inexperienced team, not a group of upperclassmen that just had a players only meeting.

Im getting really sick of Prohm just standing there with his arms crossed or squatting down while we continue to get pummeled every time down the court. This was a perfect time to get T'd up and stick up for your team.

hmmm...reminds me of his predecessor's demeanor

You are not off your rocker but your basketball knowledge is iffy at best. If Iowa State is a 6 seed or worse in the NCAA tournament I will buy you 5 beers so we can both drown our sorrows.

Guys, it's been obvious the last couple of weeks where this season is going. 4-6 seed with the talent to make the Sweet 16. We would be riding high if that were to happen. Then you just hope for the best. Sweet 16 has been the reasonable goal all season. Regular season wasn't as successful as we hoped, but we're going to play with anyone in the tournament.
