Wow, the crazy juice is flowing on this one.
JT played just like the coaches wanted him to at Nebraska, leading the team down a very narrow path to victory.

How is this crazy? JT has yet to really impress and prove that he deserves the reigns automatically or be a big front runner after AA graduates. How easy we bring up the nebraska throw or the baylor run, but forget his play against army and texas a&m.... It will be an interesting qb competition in 2011....

I'm rather glad the talk of JT leap frogging AA is over with.

My thought is that Tiller will get every opportunity to earn the starting QB spot next year. If he gets leapfrogged by Barnett or Capello I think the staff will get him on the field somehow. We can always use more WRs in this offense and he would provide a great opportunity for some WR passes, even more so than Money would.

I just don't see them keeping Tiller as 2nd string QB if he loses out next year, but that is my opinion.

Tiller will have waited three years for a chance at the spot. I'm betting that if he gets beat out, he's transferring. Don't know that I'd blame him.

Personally I would rather have a playmaker at QB than a game manager, but maybe thats just me.

How do you know Tiller is not a playmaker? He was playing against a top defense, he was a FRESHMAN, and he was executing a low-risk game plan. So you're going to make judgments based on those factors? And, Oh, by the way. WE WON THE GAME!

Tiller is the clear number 2 on this team. It's not close. Capello's chance will come after Tiller graduates following his two years as the starter.

If he was going as low risk as you claim, then thats even worse if he couldn't even complete half of those low risk throws. I'm not sure if you really paid attention to the QB or not. Just because he didn't turn the ball over doesn't mean he didn't make ugly throws.

I disagree. There has been a whole offseason of development. A lot of things change. Who's to say Barnett doesn't show to be better next year? Sure, Tiller was the guy last year, but it could have changed. It would not surprise me if there was a hard fought battle at the QB position next year. I see Barnett as a passer. Sure he can run as well, but I think passing is his strong suit. Capello is similar. If Tiller cannot pass as well as either of those two, he won't start. We will have playmakers ourside in West, Money, Gary and Lampkin by that time and they will need to touch the ball. We didn't have those guys that could turn 5 into 20 last year so were run oriented. I think, ideally, Herman would love to have an offense that was balanced, yet used the short passing plays to set it up.

I'm not saying tiller isn't our number 2 this year. I think he is and should be. I am just saying a lot has changed in the last year and could change in the next year. FWIW, I think Barnett is better than AA, Tiller or Capello were coming out of high school. If his learning curve is steep he could be the guy.
