Wait, your proof that a UNI win that lacks style points is going to have the potential to hold ISU back at the end of the year is because people had a problem with a two loss ISU team being in contention for a CFP when one of those losses was a three score game vs the second best Sun Belt team? That is totally contradictory.

On one hand you are saying a UNI win without style points could hurt ISUs chances to be in contention for a CFP. Your proof is that people fixated on a three score loss to LA as a reason why two loss ISU shouldn’t be in contention for a playoff spot. And the reason people fixated on it was because ISU was in contention for a CFP spot.

You don’t see the problem with this logic?

Let’s not pretend like last year was just the normal thing that happens every year. KFC.

They're already in the playoff, because 12-1 knocks them out. Doesn't matter if the 12 wins are all double digit.

We will get style points by winning because the talking heads will jump on the CMC train as long as our only loss, if one, is Oklahoma.

I remember a certain Baylor team trying to win with style points against UNLV. Instead of taking a knee and taking the W they decided they were going to punch it in from the 8 on the last play of the game. They fumbled at the 1 and gave up a 99 yard return for a TD to lose the game.

That isn't always going to happen but things like injuries to starters who shouldn't be in the game when it is already decided do happen and can affect the rest of the season.

The team needs to just worry about being the best version of themselves and let everyone else worry about style points. Trust the process.

You’re right on the bold. Now What do you think the overwhelming opinion will be if we win 24-14? We’re already on a bunch of media outlets’ “overrated” lists. I know which one I would rather have.
So if we're up 24-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter should Campbell play starters and bump it to 38-7 or play backups even if it means the score slips to 24-14. I guess that's the question. I can see your point.

I want to see the UNI fans (especially those that will come to the game wearing the black and yellow parakeet gear to signal their true allegiance) trudging out at halftime with their heads down. Halftime score of 42-0 sounds good. Let Dekkers throw a few TDs in the second half.

Surely I don't need to explain that the way different sets of circumstances affect people's perceptions of college football teams over different seasons aren't always logically consistent.

I don't know that a close UNI win would affect ISU's playoff chances this year because I don't know what set of circumstances they'll be facing come December. But I know this: if ISU is still a playoff contender in December and we are competing against another team(s) for that slot, then inevitably every aspect of these teams will be scrutinized and compared. Losses will matter most, but if the resumes are close then the wins will get scrutiny too. And in that case I'd rather have blown out the teams we can so no one can undermine a win with "it was closer than it should have been" talk in a subjective argument about who gets the spot. It's as simple as that.

Im thinking this should do it:
ISU 45-UNI 13
ISU 139-Iowa 5
ISU 42 @ UNLV 7
ISU @ Baylor (with tent) 42-10; (w/out tent) 35-10
ISU 42-Kansas 13
ISU 35 @ KState 21
ISU 24-Ok St 16
ISU 27 @ WV 10
ISU 24-Texas 0
ISU 49 @ Tech 13
ISU 42 @ OU 38
ISU 45-TCU 17

ISU 46-OU 40 OT (Dallas)

ISU 16-Bama 14 (Semis, Assalley wins it with last second field goal just inside of and definitely not on top of the right goal post)
ISU 30-Georgia 21 (Natty)
ISU 139-IA 5 ....No way the team out east gets a safety on us unless we allow it lol

As long as it isn't super close, I don't think the MOV matters all that much.

No one other than ISU fans will be watching this game with the other games on at the same time unless suddenly there's a big upset alert at the end. If we are in control but only up by a TD or so no one will remember it Sunday morning much less come playoff time.

Its ******* weird to me that people don’t want to win by as much as possible every game.
