I don't think you want him at QB if you want a passing attack? He can't throw the ball well enough.

Now if you want to run a read option offense, or an offense like Oregon runs, then fine. He's a super athletic kid that can play QB at a smaller HS and just dominate with his athleticism. But he is NOT a pocket passer whatsoever.

I think he ends up at WR at Iowa, which will still be a great get for Iowa. I wish he would have went to ISU, but it's evident that that was never really an option for him. He's always been a Hawkeye fan.

I do think he'd be making a HUGE mistake though if Oregon came calling and offered him. I know they have shown interest in him. He'd thrive in Oregon's offense, either at QB or WR. Much more than at Iowa, and he'd get a lot more national exposure at Oregon by far.

If I were an Iowa fan, I'd worry if Oregon offered him. But maybe the kid wants to stay close to home?

I honestly don't know how far away he'd want to go or if it even makes a difference. I think he really wanted to play with Pierschbacher.

I also believe he ends up at WR, probably sometime his freshman season. Also, can anyone really be worse than Vandenberg?

Vandenberg was awesome in his very first start of his career at Ohio State. And I mean AWESOME. As an ISU fan, I was really depressed that Iowa was going to have such a great QB for the next several years after watching that Ohio State game.

But he steadily got worse every game since then. His senior season was just dreadful. Didn't even look like the same guy at all. So did the coaching he got at Iowa bring him down, or what?

It has always been tough for ISU to beat Iowa for the top Iowa kids. It always will be tough....just the way it is.

I wouldn't say that ISU was never in the picture for him. He was very impressed with the coaches and program when he did his visits, I just think that his childhood dream of being a hawk and his family being die hard fans put UI over the top.

I'm interested to see what Hadachek chooses. Recently visited ISU again and is one hell of an athlete. Could be a decent pick-up at WR or DB

This is the problem, no matter what inept coaches are down there (Greg Davis), no matter what type of offense they run (who actually knows now), the downward spiral that the program seems to be in, the disgruntled fanbase, and the fact that KF may be gone after 1-2 mediorcre to bad seasons, these kids always seem to pick Iowa because they were fans growing up. It baffles my mind. Do they even look at what is going on down there?

If ISU can put together a 20 year stretch of dominance like Hayden did, you'll see more kids growing up ISU fans.

That really stinks. This kid is one heck of an athlete.

Don't know if he can play QB at the next level though? Iowa would have to completely change their offensive system if he does. He is NOT a pro-style offensive QB.

If I were Iowa, I'd probably put him at WR. He would make a good WR, but nowhere near as good as Lazard. I'd love to have both guys, but if ISU could only have one.... it's Lazard by a LOT.

I don't think Iowa would completely have to change their system to have him at QB. Wisconsin didn't change their system for Russell Wilson. The Eagles still ran the same offense with Vick. Staying in the same general system but having a more athletic quarterback would maybe just mean more scrambles and roll outs, as opposed to a system change.

If they grew up Hawkeye fans, I could see them going there versus going to ISU. Growing up as an ISU fan, I could have NEVER went to Iowa.

However... if Scheel ends up getting an offer from someone like Oregon, that's where I think he'd be completely NUTS to still go to Iowa. Unless he's just too concerned about getting homesick or something? He'd be amazing at Oregon IMO. At Iowa, he could easily end up being just another Keenan Davis.

Well, we do have a winning record over KF. Does that count for anything? Probably not. A lot of teams can say that.

This isn't the ISU of the days of Hayden. We consistently beat Iowa head to head. If you feel the need to reference a legendary coach from the 80's to justify the level of your program then something is wrong. Typical Hawk fan, living in the past. Here is the present, 4-8 record with a witch-hunt among the fanbase.

Who cares about your view on Iowa, this is Cyclonefantic. Think about that.

I was not aware someone had brought up a different hawk recruit or suggested that (not) said recruit would switch. I should have responded with I do not think he will change. He being Campos.

im sorry for correcting people saying things that arent true

instead ill let those people think there is a chance he comes to isu when like i said there is zero chance of it

ross and jay were both huge iowa fans growing up just like lazard is a huge isu fan

now ill let you get back to attacking people for saying things that arent bad about iowa (even if true)

I brought up Hayden because his dominance over ISU (and success overall) is a big part of why the majority of the state pulls for the Hawks -- this is why you still see kids growing up Hawks fans and picking Iowa even after down years.

I'm not living in the past, just pointing out that ISU needs a similar stretch of dominance to change the way things are in the state of Iowa.

What the hell? We have basically split with them over the last ten years or so.

I think in a couple years we will see the benefits if the 2000 and on ISU teams. It will be a lot closer to 50/50 than it is right now.

No need to stop recruiting....after a 4 win season at EIU, he might see things differently.

Yeah, because those 6 win seasons look impressive too. It's not like CPR is untouchable. CPR's only winning season came with Chizik's guys his first season and has compiled a 24-27 overall record and a 12-22 conference record. Neither Iowa or Iowa State have room to talk.
