JB is NOT the better QB, but....

???

Jantz had one play against TCU and picked up 8 yards scrambling on 3rd and 9.

EDIT: Excuse me - 7 yards on 3rd and 8
In this play Jantz had the first down if he continues to run but decides to juke a defender which allows him to tackle Jantz a yard short of the first down. Barnett had a similar play to scramble 5 yards on 3rd down and makes a quick decision to run a straight line and gets the first down. The offense ends up scoring on the drive.

Those two plays exemplifies to me why Jantz didn't start today.

I guess if this was a skills competion jantz would probably win but i think this is a team sport and the qb has to run the offense against another team. I think people so want jantz to be another seneca wallace and he may have the tools but cant get it together in a game. JB is not a complete qb but he gives us a better chance to win.

Way up there
Jantz may have better tools physically but he's mentally just not a division 1 QB, for whatever reason he was never able to get over the hump. This is just a better team all around with JB at QB, we've looked like a better team against better competition the last 2 seasons with JB playing. Steele was an attempt to put a band aid over our QB situation, that attempt failed. JB isn't the answer to the QB problems in the future but he's a better solution right now than SJ.

Jantz has the potential to be the best QB on the roster, hes just not there. It would be awesome if he was a sophomore, but hes a raw senior. Similar to Irving, has the potential to easily be our best DE, he just isn't there.

No it wouldn't because then we'd have to hear you tooting his horn for 2 more years. He is what he is and it's not a very good Big 12 QB. That said, I'm happy to have him as a backup.

Barnett's the better QB overall, however that works out. The man's beaten 3 ranked teams now. I think we have to give it to him.

We are a better team when he is QB and although I've always been a SJ fan I now believe JB has to be our #1 for all the reasons we saw today.

It's like nobody even SAW the defense we were facing today. We're not going to face a more formidable D Line than that, those guys were HUGE and athletic. We clearly didn't get the best TCU offense today for obvious reasons, but it really ticks me off that some of you act like JB and the offense just went out there and just managed a game.

They played well on the road against a defense with elite talent. It was our best offensive game, even better than Tulsa. If that offense had shown up for every game the Iowa game would have been a 30 point blowout and we'd have likely beaten Tech. This is the most talented D we've faced and the scoreboard reads ISU 37.

Am I the only one who doesn't care who our QB, RB, or WR are as long as we win?

love the people on this board claiming they were right and others are wrong. So, you know more than Paul Rhoads? Coach was wrong and you were right? Jantz, Barnett, or Sam....whoever is the QB needs supported and these threads need to stop

I don't give a damn who is starting as long as the they are winning. The three stooges could start for all I care as long as they were playing winning football.

The TCU line ran 240-305-290-260. Big, not "HUGE" by any means. As I said before the game, the TCU D is very good, but overrated. They remain the one and only team this season to allow Dayne Crist and a woeful KU passing attack to eclipse 170 yards....he had 300 against them.

That being said, great rebound game for Mess and the O line and a well played game by JB.

IMO, the clear starter is JB

What we have seen is what we have gotten from Steele. Truth is he has peaked. Next year he will be either sitting in a cubicle or flipping burgers. With JB, he can continually improve over the season with experience and it will carry over to next season.

sadly in the offseason this will happen between JB and Richardson..
