I can't believe things were just as messy as last year and ISU came out of it, BUT Campbell alluded to how last year the team would tend to fold when things got weird and the difference was ISU didn't let that happen Saturday.

That’s a positive view by CMC.


I mean, we followed up a lot a mistakes and mess with more mistakes and mess. We tried to fold. The first 2.5 quarters would have buried us against Iowa in any of the last 6. Or against most teams in the Big 12. You cannot follow-up a blocked punt on the opening series with two red zone turnovers and another blocked punt at your own goal line.

Iowa finally had their own turnovers after 20 quarters of extremely clean play, which although they were overdue, I don’t think it’s from a quality change by our defense. Those turnovers and the worst offense this series has seen in two decades kept us in the game despite our typical offense and ST disaster

It's the best LB unit we'll face, but it was down a future nfl player yesterday in Jacobs. Otherwise, we will face better D Lines, and Iowa's secondary, while really good, is a tad overrated.

I say we play a better defense in practice daily.

I doubt that defense is going to give up much more than 17 points in any game without Petras and that putrid offense giving the opposition pick sixes, scoop and scores, or possession deep in the plus side of the field. Until the defense starts to suffer injuries or just gets worn down from not getting any help from the offense, that is.

Any win in Kinnick should be enough to say nothing of a win against a superb defense.

Really like the way Brock runs. He's obviously not as explosive as Breece, but I like his decisiveness. As awesome as Breece was, there were times he wouldn't just take the 3-4 yards and would wait to try and bounce one and take a loss.

One thing I'll say about Brock...coming into the season, I didn't think that he was going to be the starter for the whole year. I felt like he kind of got the yards that were there and then got tackled. Didn't have the "it" factor. But he's proved me wrong so far. He may not be BH or DM, but we can win with him. Once we get Norton back, we're going to have a really good group and Brock should be fresher having a backup that will take a few carries off him.

I'm really excited for Brock. He paid his dues, stuck with this program, and this message board has been falling all over itself to demote him and anoint Norton as the second coming, and all he's done is run his ass off, pick up first downs, eat clock, run people over, break people's ankles, pass block out of his mind, and been arguably one of our most important players this year.

Iowa is well coached and good at limiting snap count.

The punter gets stuff for taking too long which is probably justified but ISU should have brought a guy or two in as extra blockers on that first punt.

Iowa got through really easily and the blocking itself was bad regardless.

Last week my buddy and I were talking during the game about how long they were taking to get punts off and how they were going to have to clean that up. I think I was literally holding my breath during that first punt.

We noticed him last year and wanted to see more of him then. I'm glad to see he's now able to get out there and prove what he can do.

O-line did a pretty good job this week (I did not expect Brock to get 100 yards). I think we will see even more improvement from Jirehl and the other backs once Remsburg comes back. He is one of our best lineman.

Jirehl Brock is the textbook definition of how to run "downhill" as a running back. I'm not sure when the last time I watched a football game and saw such a clear example of a downhill runner.

He and Sanders are quite the contrasting styles. Brock is very patient in the hole, waiting for the play to develop and adjusting speed to fit the seam.

At this point Sanders reminds me of Ricky Bobby - he likes to go fast. He just accelerates and goes. He seems to only have one speed at this point (which is very fast and not necessarily a bad thing)

I think Brown should start at RB. He is big and carried the ball in HS. Might be easy to run down, but hard to bring down. He has "BIG" potential. Very disappointing he has not been given a chance!

Brock was had a strong game overall and will be a great back for us. But goal line fumbles are a big deal. This was true of Hall's last year as well.
