John Walters calling out DSM media

John is absolutely dead on in his critique. I tweeted about 14 months ago, who will be more disappointed that the Big 12 was saved - the PAC-10/12 or Iowa media who have to continue to feign interest in Iowa State?

Nobody's saying the media isn't supposed to talk about the situation, or the bad things that might result. But the tone at times borders on near-giddiness. Remember Giggles last summer? I mean, it was nauseating. There was no "practically" about it as JW said...they WERE cheering for ISU's demise.

If Iowa were in a precarious spot for any reason (conference trouble, NCAA violations, whatever) what do you think local media would be doing? Circling the wagons! But for some reason because we pull in 15K less for a football game we're persona non grata. It's truly mystifying.

Exactly. Walters is a bit of a hypocrite bashing other in the sports media for being Iowa fans. He's a huge ISU homer and mouthpiece of the athletic dept.

I got to disagree - JW is a pro just like Pete Taylor. During a news broadcast you would never know that Pete or John were the play by play guys for ISU.

This. John is a pro in my book. Yes he roots for the Clones...during his broadcast. But gives the sports from an unbiased stance in my opinion. All the hating is ridiculous.
